Marschmellows – It ain..t right
12” & Digi

A Side: It ain..t right (Original)
B Side: It ain..t right (B-Phreak Remix)
CD-Bonus: Radio edit
Marschmellows are back! After 3 years of silence the Frankfurt/Germany based DJ-outfit is back to shake your foundations. Marschmellows might ring a bell to you due to their album- and 12”-releases on German hipster-labels Infracom, Audiopharm and Caramelle being one of the heads of the German/Austrian nujazz/triphop/downbeat/lounge/dub/call-it-whatever-you-want -movement. Frankfurt-based DJ Wicked E. (Jörg Rosenbaum) and Vienna-based producer Roland Hackl (Aromabar and Vienna Scientists) teamed up with British MC Sirreal (Freestylers/Dub Pistols) to create a breakbeat-electro-monster song. “It ain..t right” goes off with a groovy but pumping beat, an ass-shaking bassline and up-to-date electro sounds, to perfectly match MC Sirreals sleazy vocals. The B side contains a remix by well-known German-based producer and remix-talent B-Phreak, working the first time ever on a vocal track. And the work is well done: B-Phreak takes “It ain..t right” to a higher level to delight breakbeat fans worldwide with an amazing remix.
This is what Jimmy Mofo from Mofo magazine has to say about the 12”: If breakbeat with rapping is your bag check this at all costs. A punchy rhythm section locks down some magnificent squelches. The MC Sirreal turns in a brilliant performance in rap cool. The mid drop-out works magnificent geeky programming skills making this tune a dynamite gem. The difficult job of remixing this phat-bad-bwoy goes to B-Phreak who rises to the challenge with ease and completely changes the vibe by loading up the sub-bass frequencies while phatting the kicks making for a cool, rap-driven, floor groover. Add some intermittent Glitch plug-in activity and things are really rollin. www.mofomag.com

Boogie Army – Das Tier
12" & Digi

A Side: Das Tier (Original)
B Side: Das Tier (Malente Remix)
CD-Bonus: Radio edit
Boogie Army in full effect. The wunderkinder of german breakbeat/electro strike with their first release on Gene Poole. Captain Koma and Martin Hörger wrote a breakbeat-smasher that garantees a full dancefloor, no matter on what occasion you play it. The dominating bassline is a dance imperative and the hookline is really rocking. The breakdown is just amazing and creates an unbelievable tension. Essential. Already been licensed to the famous russian Udar-compilation, more releases are to follow. Boogie Army are known for their superb releases and remixes on Moneyshot, Westway, Electric Kingdom, Carepack and many established labels more. Malente takes “Das Tier” with his remix to a new level and works out the electro-elements of the original to a electro-monster-track. Spiced up with a nice-vocoder-voice this remix rolls with an exciting electro-bassline, that is so wobbly, that you have to be afraid your speakers are breaking down. That’s the kind of bassline we like, a bassline you can here for miles and makes every wall shaking. A nice highpitched hookline and some interesting bleeps and clonks make this tune a perfect peaktime-rocker. Malente is unstoppable touring around the world playing his amazing djsets and his production on Splank!, Moonboutique and Unique are legendary. Big up to Malente for this remix.
Needle Juice / BijouBreaks says about this release: I first heard this tune a few months back on the AWE unsigned showcase. As you may know the show is always a cracking mix of unsigned bombs, but this tune in particular stood out. A marvellous track by two of Germanys finest, how could this be unsigned?
Well, it was not for long. In stepped German label Gene Poole. This is great news, Das Tier is a fire cracker. It all about big breakdowns and fat bass, this is Electro-Funk-Breaks at its finest. Choppy and always keeping things interesting I am sure this one is going to blow up many a dancefloor. Malente is drafted in for remix duties. With some exceptional work on Splank, Lounge and Unique, it’s an excellent choice. Moving away from the breakbeat, the track is dominated by wobbly electro bass. Add to this the occasional bleep or clonk and you have the full electro rework, it may be a bit obvious but damn it works.

Philipe de Boyar – Formerly Unknown
12" & Digi

A Side: Formerly Unknown (Original)
B Side: Formerly Unknown (Boy 8-Bit Remix)
CD-Bonus: Radio edit
Prepare for the 3rd release on Gene Poole Music. Germans innovative breaks/electro-label introduces a new face to the scene, Swiss talented youngster DJ and producer Philipe de Boyar. Following releases and remixes on labels like Hammarskjöld, Erase or Southern Fried Philipe de Boyar presents his flagship-song „Formerly Unknown“ to the world. If you are looking for breaks/electro-style with dirty sounds and a great hook you found your future favourite track. And you are not alone, a lot of djs dig the tune and claim it as their recent favourite floor-shaker. “Formerly unknown” was already released on the MIXMAG covermounted-CD Oct ‘06 issue mixed by DJ Touché and on the Top of the Clubs Vol 30 Mix CD by Moston & Malente. Now we are celebrating the vinyl- and digital-release of this universal soon-to-be-huge-tune, you can be sure it will rock EVERY dancefloor.
Boy 8-Bit takes “Formerly Unknown” in a new direction, still keeping the track extremely club-friendly but not trying to outbang the Original. The Remix is deceptively heavy and goes in a more melodical direction. Boy 8-Bit is one of the hottest producers and remixers around at the moment and he did a great job. Well done. “Formerly Unknown” gets support by the likes of DJ Touché, Annie Mac, Malente, Lars Moston, DJ Friction, Boogie Army, Marschmellows and many, many more.

Boogie Army – Gangster / Sex, Drugs, RocknRoll
12" & Digi

A Side: Gangster
AA Side: Sex, Drugs, RocknRoll
Boogie Army returns with their second strike on Gene Poole Music. Germany..s electrobreaks master contributes with a fantastic double-a-side 12” to the label. First track “Gangster” comes with a heavy bassline and driving beat-programming that shatters every dancefloor. We simply love Boogie Army productions, especially when they come with such a cool vocal. Don’t we all want to be Gangsters?
The AA-side “Sex, Drugs, RocknRoll” summarises the credo of clublife in a short but catchy slogan, this is, what it is all about, just that RocknRoll doesn’t stand necessarily for rock music. Boogie Army take with this tune the idea of electro house even more in the breakbeat context. “Sex, Drugs, RocknRoll” is a massive floorfiller for every crowd. Actually both tracks deserve to be A-side, but we couldn’t decide, so this 12” comes as a double A-side. Remix-12”es to be released soon with remixes by hotshots like Pornobreaks, Leeroy Thornhill, Marschmellows and Audiotrucs. This will go off.
Supported by Krafty Kuts, Barry Ashworth, Leeroy Thornhill, , Marschmellows, Nick Thayer, B-Phreak, Malente, Hardy Hard, Westbam, Lady Wax, Lars Moston and many more. Check out Boogie Army, the boys are on fire! Vorsprung durch Technik!

Draax & Seavers – Rude One EP
12" & Digi

A1: Rude One
B1: The shit gets down
B2: Live a clean life
Draax & Seavers are brandnew on the map, though a very select group might know them from other previous projects. The two boys (aka Captain Koma and Illy the Kid) pay a homage to the James-Bond-villain from “Moonraker” Draax and the legendary tv-show-stuntman Colt Seavers by taking some pride in vocal breakbeat. This fine EP features on the title-track “Rude One”, a relaxed ragga-feel with some uplifting beats and strong hit-quality. “The shit gets down” puts the funkiness right in place and will fills up the dance floor – for real. “Live a clean life” is already licensed to the official 2007-CD-compilation of Zurich’s famous street parade and shows one more time Draax & Seavers talent to combine nice vocal hooks with upfront beats. The Rude One EP shows like no other release the celebration of pop-elements fused with modern dance floor breakbeats and up-to-date-sounds. With such a fine production as a debut there is a lot to be expected from the two German talents. Take a ride with Draax & Seavers! Fahrvergnügen!

Super Commodore – Super C EP
Digi

1: Super C1
2: Super C2
3: Super C3
4: Super C4
Fresh producer talent Super Commodore aka Edouard Goux is Gene Poole Musics newest secret weapon in the search for the best dancefloor music. Super Commodore mixes dirty electro with a breaks approach and hails the french nu-school of Electro like Daft Punk, Kitsune and Ed Banger acts. Coming from the same background Edouard always spices his crazy soundtrips with groovy and danceable breakbeats. It is just this mix in combination with his total raw laptop-production that gives his tracks an extra vibe. The super C EP is a concept EP which takes you on a journey, drawing a superhero-comic without any text or pictures in your mind. This one is pure, raw and unfiltered audio-emotions. Experimental and at the same time dancefloor-rockin for electro- and breaks-heads. Super Commodores Erstschlag!

FlexdeFunk – Heading on a mission feat. MC Kyla & D-Man
12" & Digi

A1: Heading on a mission feat. MC Kyla & D-Man (Original)
A2: Heading on a mission feat. MC Kyla & D-Man (Philipe de Boyar Remix)
B1: Heading on a mission feat. MC Kyla & D-Man (Marschmellows Remix)
Canadas FlexdeFunk debuts with his Heading on a mission track on Gene Poole Music. Packed with lyrics from New Zealeand top-MCs Kyla and D-Man FlexdeFunk provides a nice and tough vocaltune with lots of groove and vibes. Philipe de Boyar take the vocals and the essences of the track and gives them a rough electro re-rub with a great breakbeat. Tuned up with lots of nuskool/oldschool sounds that are so fresh and 2008-like the remix becomes a first quality dancefloor-bomb. PdB manages to walk the frontier between Electro and Breakbeat still leaving a b-boy-vibe in his his quality production. With this remix PdB proves he is one of the talents for 2008 to be watched out. The Marschmellows remix is full-on breakbeat in a London-Style, working perfectly with the vocals of MC Kyla and making it a peaktime-tune for all breakbeat-dancefloor and more. Shaping the sound for upfront breaksbeat- and electro-productions the Frankfurt/Viennese production-team creates a slamming remix that includes most of the vocals of the original at the same time being extremely danceable and groovy. Heading on a mission including its remixes is a must have in every djs recordbox, just choose the remix that suits your set the most. They are all amazaing anyway.

B-Phreak – Sonic Roc (including Nick Thayer Remix)
12" & Digi

A1: Sonic Roc (Original)
B1: Sonic Roc (Nick Thayer Remix)
Mainz/Frankfurts finest B-Phreak is back. After providing a superb and loved remix for GP 1-001 Marschmellows “It ain..t right” homegrown producer/dj B-Phreak is back with a striking tune. “Sonic Roc” is B-Phreaks best work so far combining the energy of a rave-tune with a bassline and beats that just make you want to dance. B-Phreak is the master in mixing old-school-bits with fresh, upfront electro sounds and a killer bassline. Once you heard “Sonic Roc” it will never leave your head, believe me mate. It is just another masterpiece from the man who already released on Splank!, Boombox and Mofo and has features all over the place.
The remix is being done from an old fan of Gene Poole music, none other than Breakspoll winner and Australian producer/dj superstar Nick Thayer. Nick provides an outstanding remix taking breakbeat to the discotheque. A rather midtempo tune that is, that can be pitched up to 128 bpm, but Nick proves how much variety breakbeat can have. Real excellent work and a piece that can be used in a lot of context, for warmup as well as a nice break in a peaktime set. It just doesn’t always have to be uptempo. Check it out, this is one of the hottest pieces of vinyl in a while it will be a topseller.
