About Me
Jacky COPPENS was born in Charleroi, Belgium. He started playing the clarinet and the drums from the age of 11 and continued his training at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique in Brussels where he graduated,got a diploma of percussion and drums.
Since he was a child, when he listened to pop music on the radio,he has been attracted by rock music. During his studies, he was on the road as a drummer in different bands playing in balls, show and theatre performances. He played for differents symphony orchestras,military orchestras and various contemporay ensembles.
From 1990 he entered the world of television and became a drummer in different programmes. These opportunities enabled him to work with artists such as the Golden Gate Quartet, Nancy Holloways, Nicole Croisille, Philippe Lafontaine, Toots Thielemans,Marc Grauwels, Gilbert Montagné, Salvatore Adamo, Claude Barzotti...
Very active on the Belgian and international musical stage, Jacky played for different Belgian artists (Claude Barzotti, Chris Denerfs, Thierry Dell, La Blonde, Jean-Francois Maljean, Jeff Bodart ...) or in bands with different styles ( Abbey Road, About Time 2, Not 2 loud, ...)
Outstanding and experienced musican, full of generositiy, Jacky shares his passion while teaching percussion intruments and instrumental ensembles in different music academies of the French-speaking Belgian as well as abroad. He is also in charge of a class at the Conservatoire Royal in Brussels.
Diplomé du CRM Bruxelles percussion classique et batterie jazz.
Dès 1990, il pousse les portes de la télévision et devient batteur pour diverses émissions qui lui permettent de travailler avec des artistes comme le Golden Gate Quartet, Nancy Holloway, Nicole Croisille, Philippe Lafontaine, Toots Thielemans, Richard Ruben, André Lamy, Marc Grauwels, Gilbert Montagné, Salvatore Adamo, Claude Barzotti.
Très actif sur la scène musicale belge et internationale, Jacky se retrouve aux coté d'artistes francophones (Claude Barzotti, Chris Denerfs, Thierry Dell, La Blonde, Jean-Francois Maljean,Jeff Bodart,...)ou dans des groupes de styles variés (Abbey Road,About time 2, Not 2 loud...)
Il est aussi actif dans le milieu pédagogique. Il partage sa passion avec dynamisme à  travers l'enseignement : professeur de percussion et d'ensemble instrumental dans différentes académies de musique de la communauté française de Belgique ainsi qu'à l'étranger, chargé de cours et conférencier au Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles.
