I am here for Friends

About Me

In a nutshell, I'm a passionate, heart and soul, East Coast girly-girl. Last year, after 9 years in sunny Los Angeles, CA, I moved to SC to be with the love of my life. I traded celebrity sightings, Hollywood hot-spots, palm trees galore, California beaches, and beautiful blue skies for all things Southern. Crazy? Maybe, but life has been beyond good to me and true love embraced me. No complaints and no regrets. I love my family, I cherish my friends, I adore my Sweetie, and I admire everything else in between. Life is good and thankful = me.
I love being surrounded by great friends, laughing until we can't breathe and documenting it all with photos for later, so we can always remember the good times. Tommy Lee said it best, "Take me away... to a place where the good times roll..."
Five random facts about me:
(1) I love sleeping in until whenever I feel like it.
(2) I don't like being told what to do.
(3) I'm an Army Brat and proud of it.
(4) I could eat Mexican food every single day and be perfectly content.
(5) The one thing I miss most about childhood is playing with Barbie dolls.
And I think the below formula for "How to make a Jenny Girl" is just brilliant! :)

My Interests

I like/love... in no particular order... good times and good laughs with great friends, music, throwing dinner parties, musical theater, flea markets, cafes with outdoor patios, museums, little hole in the wall Mexican joints, karaoke bars, amusement parks, roller coasters, reality TV, art shows, bookstores, spas, love songs, romance, astrology, blogging, bottled water, Vegas get-aways, spur-of-the-moment late night runs to get ice cream - just because, Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream (the green kind), Tootsie Rolls, the Mob, the unexplained, M&M pancakes, going out to dinner, making breakfast on Saturday mornings, lounging in bed on Sunday mornings, day trips and travel, the color pink, fruity perfumes, Mary Jane shoes, fishnets, fun jewelry, plush pillows, colorful home decor, my parent's home at Christmas time, the smell of freshly baked bread, chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, California sunshine, Junior Mints, men in make-up, women in power suits, drag queens, creative souls, Marilyn Monroe, Liza Minnelli, sexy-fabulous Madonna, Roxy Hart and Velma Kelly, the Boston Red Sox, David Beckham, Justin Timberlake, Johnny Depp, and Target (yes, the store).

I'd like to meet:

Madonna. Oprah too, I think she would be such an inspiration to talk with. And the Cat's Meow... fun, clever, creative, witty individuals. New faces, new friends, old faces, old friends.

Music:

The inimitable... inspiring... mesmerizing… beautiful... sexy and talented Madonna. Single-handedly the most amazing performer I have ever seen. Madonna, Madonna, and more Madonna! I've been a fan for over 20 years and my love for this woman is indescribable. Aside from the Material Girl, I listen to almost anything... from Classic Rock to Pop to Hip-Hop... and I even enjoy a good Broadway Musical - can someone say Wicked!? I love music with a good groove and a kick-ass beat. Without music (and Madonna) life would be sad and truly dull.

Movies:

Cabaret, Chicago, A Chorus Line, The Godfather Trilogy, Bugsy, Bonnie and Clyde, Pulp Fiction, Ocean's Eleven, Pretty Woman, Beaches, Clueless, History of the World Part I, A League of their Own, Thelma & Louise, Clue, Goonies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Who's that Girl?, The Witches of Eastwick, The Money Pit, L.A. Story, Interview with a Vampire, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Threesome, St. Elmo's Fire, Weird Science, Vacation, Caddyshack, Stripes, Airplane, Ghostbusters, Rear Window, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Go, Blow, Magnolia, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Walk the Line, Garden State, Love Actually, The Phantom Tollboth, and Disney’s The Parent Trap, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland.

Television:

LOST, America's Next Top Model, Oprah, Project Runway and AFV. I am the quintessential channel surfer and most of the time I stop on The Style Network or The Food Network. I'm sort of obsessed with Clean House on the Style Network and Barefoot Contessa on The Food Network. And VH-1's Best Week Ever rocks the kasbah. I love documentaries on the strange, unusual and bizarre. Sex and the City, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and Love Connection – “Where old fashioned romance meets modern day technology.” Gotta love old game shows. I also love and miss the old variety shows like The Carol Burnette Show, The Donny & Marie Show, Solid Gold, Dance Fever and The Muppets.

Books:

Madonna's SEX book, Valley of the Dolls, The Great Gatsby, My Point...And I Do Have One by Ellen DeGeneres, and I'll read anything about Marilyn Monroe or Astrology. I love classic kid's books, especially The Phantom Tollbooth or anything by Shel Silverstein. One of my all time favs is Dr. Suess' Oh The Places You'll Go!

Heroes:

A hero is a person I admire greatly and who inspires me in life. My wonderful Dad, who is a hero to me in so many wonderful ways. My Mom, for providing me with a safe and loving childhood filled with the best memories a grown kid could ever ask for. My cousin Jeanne whom I love, adore and admire. My dear Gram and Pop, for sharing with their entire family the inspirational love that they have shared between the two of them for over 50 years. The amazingly good hearts of my dearest friends, you all inspire me on a daily basis. And naturally my idol Madonna, who has inspired me since I was 8 years old.

A hero seizes opportunity and strives to make the changes they hope to see in the world. My heroes exude passion and compassion, sincerity and creativity, ambition and determination, and a love for life and laughter.

And abstractly speaking, my heroes are happiness and humor, always.
