E-WAH LADY

You know I'll never clean this home.

About Me

E-wah has been steadily gaining attention, playing shows with her much admired electric guitar "the Swan" and her lamplight companion "the Bear" around Melbourne with increasing velocity over the past year. Recently she's been plotting out her third release, an 8 song album Lights and Sirens (2007) through independent label Peak Plasma Concentration Records.

Lights and Sirens is something of a restless dream rolling between queer lullabies and darker maunderings, intertwined with the sounds of a rainy backyard. And if you think "lullabies" means E-wah's gone soft and settled down into the eiderdown you need to give Lights & Sirens a turn in your player because to the alert ears, the pounds of a neighbouring demolition may be audible, buried deep within the mix.
E-wah Lady has been pot-boiling for some time now. Starting out from a dire domestic abyss of hit and Mrs shows, she divorced herself from the excruciating past with her debut album This Is Remorse (2006), a concoction of diabolical outpourings which has made its way into the National Library of Australia's collection listed under "electronica" with the Suicide-esque Self Self Loathe cemented as a firm favourite amongst devotees. On the basis of this record one reviewer painted our E-wah as “a drunk, pirate hippie that has some drums, bells and can sing a bit.”
The second release an EP, Almost Sold My Axe (2006) put the blade to the grindstone for the recording of six more traditional songs packaged up in lovingly hand-made cd cases. This release picked up modest radioplay and positive reviews. One smitten reviewer saying, "the songs crackle with intimacy and directness” and openly gushed, “there’s no pretense, and the power of each performance offers a truth that is seldom seen these days.”

a review! a palpable review!

Here's a link, if you have time to read it in this frothing mouthed world of constrictive carpark spaces. Those lines, I swear close in like the walls of an Indiana Jones movie. http://www.thedwarf.c...
