Airplanes are probably my biggest interest. I grew up around airplanes, my father was in the airforce, and was a crew chief on the KC-135. When I was about 11 years old he took me out to a radio control flying field and got me hooked on it. So at age 12 he gave me my first airplane, an Eagle2, and I soloed a short time later. These days we've grown from the two airplanes we had to about 20. I've recently built my first full kit and really enjoyed it. I've always been fascinated with airplanes, and will fly until I can't fly anymore. The memories of flying with my father until we couldn't see anymore will always be the most treasured in my life. Another big interest has always been guitar, I got my first guitar around the same time I started flying. I played in bands with my friends through high school and later pretty much in the gargage for fun. In 1999 I met Christian Easley at the pizzeria where I worked. We had a similar taste in music and he talked me into checking out his "band" of him and Chris Sampson. Seeing an opportunity when I knew it, and being in a bad band situation, I managed to talk my best friend, Robert Knox, to join them and form Pulsepherion. Pulsepherion was a great challenge and learning experience for us, we had never played anything like it. Our bandmates in Christian and Chris are phenomenal musicians, the kind that make you better on a daily basis. So we finally took the step out of the garage and into the local music scene, recording a demo cd in the process. These were also some of the greatest memories of my life. We made so many friends and memories in a very short period of time. But I don't think that story is finished yet, look for a revival in the near future. On a shorter note, other interests include, reading horror and war books, collecting anything having to do with Jimi Hendrix, movies, music, classic muscle cars, fishing and boating, and others.

A lot of the people I would have liked to meet are dead. My friends know that the first would have been Jimi Hendrix. Everybody knows that his guitar skills have never been approached, and never will be. I think his writing is often overlooked, he was a real poet. I'm sure he might have been slightly annoyed at the one million questions I would have had for him. Gregory "Pappy" Boyington is another. I'm sure many of you don't know who he was. Pappy was the squadron leader of VMF-214, the Black Sheep Squadron. He was also one of the highest scoring american fighter pilots of WW2. According to popular myth, the black sheep was a squadron of misfits. The pilots were reportedly hardasses that liked to drink and fight, and generally get in trouble. There was a saying that Pappy could fly better drunk, and he shot down more than one Japanese while drunk or hungover. Pappy was eventually shot down, but not before scoring his last three victories. He survived 20 months in Japanese prisons in very harsh conditions. He was also awarded the congressional medal of honor. I'll mention one more WW2 pilot here, Robert Morgan. Robert Morgan was the pilot of perhaps the most well known B-17 Flying Fortress there ever was, the Memphis Belle. He later went back to WW2 in the Pacific campaign and flew a B-29 called Dauntless Dotty. The B-17 is my favorite airplane of all time, it's the toughest piece of machinery ever developed. Many WW2 pilots limped their birds home with missing tails, stabs, multiple engine failures, literally hundreds of holes in them, and worse. I don't recall the survival rate of a B-17 crew during the Memphis Belle's early time in the war, but it was very low. Their accomplishment of being the first to finish their quota of 25 missions was impossible at the time. They had no fighter escort at that time of the war due to fighters not having the range to be effective. The bombers would fly a tight formation to produce interlocking fields of fire. I have read Robert Morgans book, "The Man Who Flew the Memphis Belle," it would have been very interesting, and a privilege, to hear more of his stories.

Anything from Horror to Westerns, doesn't really matter. I'll watch anything once, or at least attempt to. A few of my favorites are Saving Private Ryan, House by the Cemetary, Tombstone, and Scarface. It would take me forever to make a full list. I have a large collection of dvd's, but there's always more to buy.
Survivorman, Mythbusters, and Dogfights are probably my favorite things to watch. I like pretty much anything that comes on Discovery or the History channel. I turn to the Military channel quite a bit also.
I read The Iceman, by Philip Carlo recently. This was the best book I've ever read. It is about a mob hitman that killed 200 or more people. It was very interesting and very graphic. I also read Beyond Band of Brothers. If you know me, you know I love WW2, and this was a good one. It expanded on Band of Brothers a great deal. Dick Winters took his personal recollections and put them together with notes from the rest of Easy Company. I love horror books, especially Richard Laymon. If you haven't read him, give him a try. I also read books on war and military. Mainly WW2, Korea, and Vietnam.
My dad is my hero. He proudly served his country in the Air Force for 20 years. He served one of those years overseas during Desert Shield/Storm. He loves airplanes, and he expertly maintained his KC-135 for 11 years. Health problems forced him off the flightline and into an office, but he still did his duty to the best of his abilities until his retirement in 1996. He is a brilliant man, I've learned so much from him.
