The Challenge: Be as funny as you can be in 3 minutes. Creativity rules: Material must be original, but does not have to be traditional stand up comedy. If you think you can make people laugh doing 3 minutes of classic mime, well then show us your stuff! You think your impressions of other people will have them rolling in the aisles? Bring it on! You get the idea. The rules are simple: The contest is for amateurs only, which means if you have ever been paid to perform comedy you are not eligible. Comics are judged on stage presence, creativity and audience response. Each comic may have up to 20 free comps the night they perform. There will be 5 contestants, along with our regular show. There is a nightly winner, and the top 25 scores of the first round go to the semi-finals.Some of the competition's losers have gone on to be big winners on the comedy scene, both locally and nationally. For those of you who like to watch, every evening is a brand new lineup of up-and-comers just waiting to be discovered. The 2008 Funniest Person in the Twin Cities contest will kick off May 20th at Acme Comedy Company. Semi-finals will be September 2nd-6th. The finals where the top 5 go head to head with one walking away with $1000 and the coveted Title of Funniest Person in the Twin Cities will be Sept 9th.
