About Me

I'm just gone be brief for those of you who don't know me. My name is Darrick Martin a.k.a Lil D native of McComb, Mississippi currently residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Me and music are like flies and shit we are attracted to each other. I started messing around with music when I was 10 at a talent show at my elementary school (Kennedy Elementary) where I and a couple of my partners won a twenty-five dollar reward. Some people say that when something is meant for you, you will know right away and I did. I fell in love with both music and money at the same time. Not to brag, but I was good at makin both money and music. The son of a hustler my mom would say.

If there is anything else you want to know about my life other than music talk to my people (ha ha ) I always wanted to say that. Shit it feels good to say that, but anyway the first time I ever recorded anything was with my homeboy Mitch on his karaoke machine and we played that fucking tape over and over until it wouldn't play anymore, but it sounded good to us. I then hooked up with some other cats who were suppose to sign a deal and them niggas wanted me to dance instead of rap because I was so young, but anyway I left them and ended up entering talent shows with some cats from my high school because everyone knew that I was good at it. We acted a fool some we won and some we lost.

You win some you lose some it don't break a game it pits spirit even though we tried and tried to get signed nothing would work.So I took my dumb ass to the military. There I ended up doing songs with a dude from Chi-Town and a guy from Florida. My name never changed it always was and always will be Lil D. I'm a lil dude ya heardd so after I got out of the military I hooked up with my cousins from Chi-Town Shane and J.P. Me and Shane ran into my other cousin Suave who was building a studio in the projects (Community Parks) so we did a whole album on Fruity Loops and started selling it through the neighborhood and the next thing I knew people were coming up to me asking me for cd's. So we went to Suave and was like dog lets print a lot of copies and sell them. We were all young doing our thing in the streets so we had a lil change but it wasn't enough. The album we put together was called Fatal Threat. This cat named Warren Gilmore introduced us to Charlie Braxton. Charlie was brief as hell with us. He said the lyrics were good but the production was garbage. He was right Fruity Loops wasn't hot at the time.We open shows for Weebie, Reese and Biggalo, and Smoke D og UGK, which I might add some good niggas. That nigga J.P. opened a lot of doors for us with his money and know how.
