About Me

During freshman year at the Berklee College of Music, Faisal Baig tagged along with a friend to a Synthesis workshop held by Bob Moog and was blown away by the sonic possibilities of synths. For the next 4 years Faisal concentrated on exploring all kinds of electronic music but it was the sound of Trance and Progressive House DJ's coming from Europe which had him hooked. Early influences include Sasha , John Digweed , Nick Warren and Sander Klienenberg. The electric guitar remained Faisal's primary instrument and his love affair with rock, metal and jazz continued in the background , but the main focus shifted to Progressive Electronica. In 2002, he returned to Pakistan and set up a commercial studio in Karachi and started composing for local TV and recording local artists. Pretty boring stuff!!It was this boredom and the lack of live musical entertainment which pushed Faisal to finally purchase his own CDJ's and a mixer in 2005. Armed with years of music education and sound experience, the decks and mixer became the creative and expressive tool which the electric guitar used to be for him. Within a year he was headlining local "raves" and dance music events and a loyal following started to grow. In 2006 he started his "Crossfade" residency at Radio 1 Pakistan , a primetime weekly hour long show where he entertains and educates audiences across Pakistan. But his sound will soon be heard all over the world this spring when he is to be featured as Artist of the Week on the extremely popular and respected web radio station , Frisky Radio. With studio productions awaiting label signings and a full length album in the works, Faisal Baig continues to create chaos on the dancefloor armed with his weapon of choice.....a passion for sound.
