About Me

1992
Formed New Years-eve by Jarl Abrahamsen (Drums), Roy Kleven (Bass) and Arnold Aas (Guitar).
1993
Guitarist Asle Helseth joined August.
1994
Square One released their first album titled The Best Of Everything containing mostly coversongs, but also some originals. Album cover was co-designed by Kjell Nupen.
- Great gigs: Quart Festivalen ( Kristiansand ), Georges music pub ( Oslo ), support for Vaselina Bilopphøggers (Hokksund) (my, oh my…)
1995
Guitarist Arnold Aas left the band. Style shifted towards the Power Trio concept a lá ZZ Top, Hendrix experience, Cream.
1996
Mostly doing small gigs in southern parts of Norway . This year also saw us playing at Riggen pub (now called Buddy’s) ( Drammen ). A location we have visited every year since.
- Great gigs: Rebecka West, Oslo
1997
Started playing at Ovenpaa, Stavanger. One of our regulars.
- Great gigs: Larvik AM Car (Larvik) (Location: a stage out in the woods illuminated by one 40 watt bulb! Man, it was dark!); Smuget, Oslo .
1998
Asle and Roy hosted Rallar’n Blues jam at Notodden Bluesfestival for the first time.
1999
Released our first live album: Live and Loud, recorded at Prommen (Risoer). Released our third album Relaunched containing songs from The Best Of Everything and six new recordings.
- Great gigs: Hosted Rallar’n Blues Jam at Notodden Bluesfestival, this time with all three of us.
2000
One hectic year! Released our fourth album entitled: Spellbound. Distribution by AMIGO. This record contained all original material by Square One. Produced partially by Vidar Busk, R.C. Finnegan and Loren Fagen. Recorded at Mountain Sound Studio, Veberg, Sande. Played at the following radio stations: NRK P1, NRK P3, P4 and several locals.
- Great gigs: Sykkelblues (Sandnes), Jazz-, Fólka og Blues Festival (Tórshavnar, Faroe Islands), Redrum (Hammerfest); Risoer Trebaatfestival (Risoer), Wings & Wheels (Lunde), Muddy Waters (Oslo), Support for Angela Brown, as well as hosting Rallar’n Blues Jam at Notodden Bluesfestival.
2001
Toured the northern parts of Norway during summer.
- Great gigs: Nordpol Kro (Vardoe), hosting Rallar’n Blues Jam at Notodden Bluesfestival.
2002/2003
Mostly seen playing our regular venues; Prommen (Risoer), Riggen ( Drammen ) and Ovenpaa ( Stavanger )
- Great gigs: Kystkultur uka (Tvedestrand), hosting Rallar’n Blues Jam at Notodden Bluesfestival.
2004
Playing the regulars. Populating the World... Jarl is the first out of the blocks…
- Great gigs: Hosting Rallar’n Blues Jam at Notodden Bluesfestival. One happy Eric Sardinas attended the session.
2005
Diapers, diapers, diapers… Roy and Asle does a follow-up to last years success, teaming up with Jarl to make a three piece girly-band! Between diapers:

2006
Playing the regulars.
