Maria Morevna is an ancient russian fairy tale which has been first published by the russian painter Yvan Bilibin. Yvan Bilibin (1876-1942) is the russian answer to Arthur Rackham or Dulac with a simpler, almost stylized way of painting that is high impact.( a set design by Bilibin -
In this new adaptation the goal is to keep the magic of the fairy tale, yet also to emphasize on the actual very modern aspect of the tale. It is a new show by Alliance Culture specifically thought to be produced on stage, including horses, dancers, acrobats, actors and a solo violin act.
The tale as ancient as it is, obviously shelters timeless questions. To remind the origins of the show Bilibin's paintings are the departure to the design of the costumes, yet revisited by the creators...to underline the modern aspects of today...and simplified to show the timeless aspects....just as it is the aim of the show itself to alternate through rhythm, music and diverse interpretations the magic of the fairy tales and to underline the importance of the symbolics and its interpretations. The show, and as it is the trade mark of Alliance Culture (to promote interculturality in its widest forms) associates specialised artists of different horizons and genders.
It is not so much the originality of gathering varied artists all on one stage then having a united force by presenting a message of peace and understanding of the differences that exist in each one of us and to present the large variety of new creations that result in such ways of collaboration. Showing ways of creating a new identity which is the creation yet maintaining each particular individual as a separate and different identity as such is the main purpose.
