About Me

I was born in northern Hungary in 1824; learned in yeshiva, received smichah at the age of twenty, married about ten years later, and eventually became district Rabbi of a city called Tapioszele. While serving there at the age of forty, I discovered a man from my community reading a small German book, I opened it, glanced at its content, and hurled it across the room. The book was a copy of the New Covenant. It landed behind a bookshelf where it remained for the next three decades. In 1883 I was provoked to uncovered the book and began to read its content. The words did me good, like the sight of a old friend who has laid aside his dusty, travel-worn garments, and appears in festive attire, like a bridegroom in wedding robes, or a bride adorned with her jewels. For years I learned from the besarot, eventually revealing what I had discovered to the members of my community in the synagogue during a shabbos lecture; Yeshua was and is Mashiach. I resigned in 1892 and traveled throughout Europe teaching on the subject.
