About Me
Defaced was originally comprised of Erin Wilson, Paul Jacobs and Anderson Whipp; with Erin on lead guitar, Paul on rythym guitar and Anderson on bass. They all discussed that a drummer was needed, but before that, Paul and Erin needed to kick Anderson out because he used all of his spare time for swimming and toking. Many more doors were opened and at this point in time and there was a name (Defaced) and only two guitar players.Within two months Defaced found a drummer named Court Gilley. They practiced every day after school, but this quickly became old because of Court's manipulation of what Defaced would become. Paul, after finding the drummer, picked up the bass. Band sessions consisted of Court bossing everyone around untill the last 3 practices.Neither Erin, nor Paul had any fun anymore. During these last practices with Court, they played a Christmas song in which they prematurely wanted to play all over Fort Wayne, even though it was only two minutes of holiday redundancy. Needless to say Paul and Erin packed up there things and left Court in the past.In a week or so Paul found another drummer, a long time friend of theirs', Kyle Hitchcock. Kyle told Defaced in quote, "I'm not the best drummer, but I have a set'" and that held to be true. Kyle was fun to hang out with, but wasn't the best to jam with. Once again the magical trio; Erin, Paul and Kyle had a thing they wanted to call a song but it wasn't really anything more than a compilation of odd guitar chord progressions, repetitive drums, and near silent bass.No one in the group wanted to sing, so they found a singer/rhythm guitarist, Mike Breuning. Mike played good guitar with the offset metal sound the band was looking for, and he sung; which was a plus, but he never got the opportunity to, because the only song they ever sang was "Cum on feel the noise" by Quiet Riot which Paul sang. Eventually, Erin and Paul took control of the band, and kicked Mike out of the band for being "weird, suicidal and dark" which was bothersome to the rest of the group to the point when inviting him over became agonizing.Kyle's drumming annoyed Erin, so he went on a quest to find a new drummer. He quickly found exactly what he was looking for in Ian MacAdam. Getting Ian to try out as the drummer was going to be tricky, due to the fact that Kyle had no idea that he might be replaced. So Erin told Kyle that there was no longer any practice so he wouldn't show up, so the band could try out Ian. Eventually Kyle caught on and showed up to practice while Ian was there. Erin explained to Kyle that Ian was the better of the two drummers. Subsequently, Kyle resigned from the band that following week.Having Ian in Defaced brought Grunge into a strict Metal world. As the year school year started to close and summer started to begin, Erin and Ian had enough time to hang out and share musicical influences; Erin's Metallica and Megadeth and Ian's Nirvana and Mr.Bungle heavily influenced the real sound of Defaced. As soon as summer rolled in, Paul was never available to practice and seemed to lack interest. Continuing on without bass, Erin and Ian made two songs without bass, but decided that the instrument was a necessity if they were to expand. Danny Hause, a close friend of Ian's at the time, was tried out. They were impressed by his talent and dedication to the instrument, and that he lived in the same area as the two. Although his taste in music was pretty isolated, his open-mindedness to different music genres soon put him on the same page as the other two members. Finally Defaced had a line-up they could really work with. With a full band and a new sound all ready to go, Defaced began to take the Grunge form that would soon become its trademark sound. With three songs and covers like, "In bloom" and "Territorial Pissings" by Nirvana, Defaced was at long last expanding.Paul came back just as the school year was about to begin. With over 30 cover songs and a dozen of their own, Paul respectfully and silently resigned so he could wrestle and pursue other things. No friendship was lost.Currently, Defaced has substantially evolved and is growing. With Erin now singing and Ian obtaining a new drum set, Danny's role in the band hitting an all time high, and the original rhythm guitarist/vocalist, Mike, rejoining the band, the group seemed to be unstoppable. After a short while, Danny quit the band because he wanted to test out different sounds, and he didn't see the group getting anywhere. Which ironically proved him wrong as Paul rejoined as bassist, and the group started to get shows. After playing a few shows including one in Illinois hosted by their recently made friends at Litterbox Records, Paul and Ian left the band. With Mike joining them soon afterward. Erin searched and searched to replace the lost members, he refused to quit while the band was starting to shape into what he wanted it to be.After a while, Danny agreed to rejoin the band, and help Erin search for a replacement for Ian; which would most certainly not be easy. While still writing songs, they are currently held back by the lack of a drummer. They hope to find one soon, so that they may complete their line-up again, and bring back the lost, but loved, great music of their youth.Defaced is nomore weve all moved on to bigger and better things but to see us do more go to the first on my friends list thank you for all who supported and i hope you carry that support to xaphan
