Born in Oakland California, raised in Berkeley in a household of eight children to Reverend Leonard and Parthena Hester. The late Reverend Hester was pastor and founder of The New Light Baptist Church, where Ernest is assistant pastor at the now New Light Christian Center, his brother Michael Hester is pastor.
Ernest was exposed to music at the young age of four, singing in a trio with his brothers Larry and Leonard Jr. They sang together as The Hester Brothers for many years until they decided to pursue a secular music career, which did..nt work out and eventually stopped the brothers from singing together.
Ernest particpated in East Bay Teen challenge USA as a student, choir director, and
graduate.
All along from age 18 on, Ernest knew God have given him the gift to write songs, both gospel and secular, which he demonstrated as a staff writer for Felton Pilate of The legendary Pop group Con Funk Shun. Ernest arranged vocals and sang on scores of chart topping records produced by his cousin James L. Richard II of The Sekret service, using his expert skills on countless recording sessions over the years.
When Ernest finally commited himself to God, he became a minister and a student of God..s word. God then took his fervent love for music and mixed it with his knowledge of scriptures to create the album Word Songs, which is exciting performed live for ministry.
