In the case that somebody considers that we are committing an error, wants to mention it quickly, immediately we will erase it.

***Morgana King***

(born Maria Grazia Morgana Messina DeBerardinis on June 4, 1930) is a jazz singer who has recorded over thirty albums to date. Morgana was Mama Carmella Corleone to The Godfather (1972-77-92). An accomplished actress, King has also made some albums in the jazz vein. She worked in several New York clubs during the late '50s and early '60s. Her 1964 album, "A Taste of Honey," made some impact, although King didn't display strong jazz technique. Her late-'70s albums for Muse had better material and more convincing performances but didn't match her appearances in the films "The Godfather" and "The Godfather Part II" for wide-ranging impact. King makes nice, occasionally arresting albums, and is a very good vocalist. ~

Morgana King's

mannered pop singing, with its stealthy phrasing, foggy timbre and other-worldly high notes, isn't a style suited to the broadest spectrum of pop music. But given well chosen ballads and sensitive instrumental support, Miss King can weave an intoxicating spell. And at Fat Tuesday's, where she is backed by an excellent trio, all the right ingredients worked together harmoniously for her. The special aura that Miss King conveys is an intense, remembered sensuality. And at Thursday's second show, the singer turned ''Out of Nowhere,'' ''Through the Eyes of Love'' and a medley of ''When I Fall in Love'' and ''Teach Me Tonight'' into dreamily romantic tone poems.

Miss King

invariably followed the beat, occasionally ornamenting her material with languid scat phrasing and then slipping into an ethereal upper register that extended to a D above high C. Such was her intensity that even the soupy pop-soul ballad ''With You I'm Born Again'' radiated with conviction. Her engagement ends tonight.
