SLACYPAA

We commence shoulder to shoulder..

About Me

SLACYPAA (Southern Los Angeles Cities Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous), formerly known as HACYPAA (Harbor Area Committee...) is a service committee directly responsible to those we serve (RECENTLY AWARDED AS THE 2007 ACYPAA HOST COMMITTEE ). We aim to unite young people in Alcoholics Anonymous around the Southern Los Angeles Area.
We are a YPAA committee dedicated to staying true to our AA heritage. We remember where we came from, know that we are all just a bunch of drunks and without Alcoholics Anonymous IN IT'S ENTIRETY we would be dying helplessly like people in a sinking ship (HELLLP MEEE...)
OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO STAY SOBER AND TO HELP OTHER ALCOHOLICS ACHIEVE SOBRIETY. We are committed to relentlessly pursuing unity and showing young alcoholics everywhere that it is possible to have fun in sobriety.
Many of us who have been around for a while, went to our first meeting and came home thinking, "I didn't drink for 50 years. I never lost my wife - shit, I can't have kids, my balls haven't even dropped yet. I didn't lose a hefty pension because I blacked out and knocked out my boss. I have nothing in common with these people."
There are young people out there who have had only this little glimpse into AA. And what if they say, "I am not like these people. I must not be an alcoholic." And they go drink and die.
It is our job to unify. We stay together or die alone. Solidarity is one of the most imporant assets any group can have. We have every resource available to cooperate and thrive with our fellow YPAA groups and our fellowship as a whole in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Okay, having said all that, we need your support!! We are all extremely motivated to start having really cool events, speaker meetings, cool places to go to outreach, so come on down and join the fun!!
