A long time ago on the east coast of Sweden, in a northern town called Gävle, a group of local post-teens decided to start a band. With members drawn from such delicate and youthful melodic hardcore-punk bands as Serene and Caster a rockmonster was about to be delivered and later on buried.
In the year 1998 they all made a collective agreement about the music they where about to create. It was important that it did not fit into the musical path the members had taken before. The only thing the members took from their previous bands was the dynamics in song structures and the intensity drawn from live performances.
In a room filled with worn out instruments located in a basement of a church the birth of Leiah was set out to be written. In this age when people still recorded their demos on shitty analogue four track studios the group started to shape their ideas into sound and music.
The first outcome from their four track studio was a demo cassette that sounded noisy and awful but one cool guy down in Belgium thought otherwise.
Bruno the head honcho of Genet Records heard Leiah’s potential. He contacted the group and a budget was given to record a single. That 7†inch single named Mood Shifting Tones was the first of a handful of records that Leiah released before they went on a hiatus.
The last recorded material Leiah made was in 2003. It was made in that same church basement. It was a pre-production on what later should but would not become their last album. Right there on the same spot where it all began they decided to end it.
In-between the years 1998 and 2003 Leiah toured Europe countless times. They shared stages and tours with bands such as: At the Drive-In. Hot Water Music, The Get Up Kids, As Friends Rust and The Locust to name a few.
Leiah recorded albums in-between the touring periods and on this page you will find a complete discography and other informative stuff. Now days you don’t have to buy records at a recordstore. *Hint* *Hint*
Since Leiah went into a hiatus in 2003 the world of music grown into something new. People out there who have stumbled across Leiah records on the net and downloaded it have been lacking a proper page that can provide the listener with information. People have been treated with silence.

After the homepage at Leiah.net got taken down and the email disappeared we as members in Leiah felt pretty stupid. We as a (former) band feel that we have a legacy to cherish. Not as musicians but as friends who spent a lot of years making new ones all across the European continent and the rest of the world. There are a lot of sweet memories floating around with no place to call home.
This page is now a home for all the individual members that ever played in Leiah and for you out there who feel connected or just interested in the band. This is a huge thank you and a hope we will meet again! Someday...
