About Me

Bobby began singing in church at the age of thirteen. Growing up in Youngstown Ohio, his spiritual influences are still heard today. While in college in Houston, Texas during the ‘80’s, Bobby was gaining recognition for his abilities to bring new, fresh life to the then-fading sounds of soul and R&B. Bobby formed Nyota Records as an outlet for his growing calling to perform his own and others’ roots-based, pure soulful music.Bobby moved to New York City in 1989 and immediately made his mark performing at the Village Gate. Word quickly spread about his incredible singing, songwriting and performing talent, and Bobby soon became a strong force on the NYC club scene appearing regularly at Le Bar Bat, Manny’s Car Wash, Terra Blues and Lola. You can now go to his site www.bobbharden.com for new performance dates.International Reputation Bobby began attracting attention overseas. He has performed everywhere from Munich to Hong Kong, and across the U.S. from Reno to Washington, D.C. (including being the first singer to perform R&B for the Supreme Court). Bobby has been featured in the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show, performing for over 16,000 people each night for ten days. Bobby has earned international acclaim as “New York’s Soul Man.”Bobby has gotten regular airplay on several radio stations throughout Germany, Holland and France. He recently opened for Robert Cray with the Sid Blues Band at Ridgefield Playhouse and will open for Keb Mo on March 19th at the Ridgefield Playhouse with Sid's band. He has performed for Secretary-General Kofi Annan, actress Whoopi Goldberg and supermodel Heidi Klum, opened up for Solomon Burke, Ben E. King, and Howard Tate, Lionel Richie, and he recorded with blues guitarist and recording artist Chris Carter on Night Shift CD, and recorded "Look At Me" for the American Cancer Soiety. Bobby's voice was recently heard on the "American Express Blue Card Jingle"He's currently in the studio working on his CD with producer Adrian Harpham and songwriter Brian Knox. He's also writing new songs with Matt Cherkoff, and just finished writing a song with Billy Sideman of Sony Records. Bobby feels he's blessed to have a music career that earns enough money to support his beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters inspite of never having a successfully hit record, and of course I couldn't do it without all my great friends and support of my family and my wonderful relationship with God.

Sounds Like: People always tell me I have my own distinct sound, but I'm happy to sound like anybody that sounds gooood! I've been in several situations where some people heard my voice and knew instantly that it was me without seeing me. I remember one recent conversation I had with Billy Sideman. He told me he took our demo to Florida and let a friend of his listen to it. Within the first measure, he said that's Bobby Harden voice. I had not seen or worked with his friend in over 8 or 9 years.
