About Me

I have been playing guitar since the age of 11, and have covered many styles including rock, blues, funk and jazz. At 16, I took up bass guitar in order to diversify and have continued to explore new instruments and new styles of music since, playing in a variety of situations, aswell as teaching guitar part-time.
After A-levels, I took a gap year with the aim of playing more, landed a gig with an old school friend and have been playing guitar with Peter Grant's band ever since.
Other projects and previous experience include a Jazz function duo/band, which you can listen to on this page, with Natalie Wilkinson on vocals, bass guitar in the chantel mcgregor band, a few short-lived funk and fusion originals projects and various function bands, including The Mighty Allsorts , who I continue to play with!
I have also previously covered bass playing, backing vocals, live sound, band admin and other duties towards running a covers band called This Late Hour, gigging mainly clubs as well as private functions, weddings, parties etc, although I have now left this band to pursue other opportunities.
These include my own blues/pop/rock/psechedelia power trio, which has occasionally been pulled together for one-off gigs, but which is now a more permanent ongoing project called ' Jonny C and The Blues Assassins ', featuring Phil Nixon on bass/backing vocals and Jimmy Milne on drums/backing vocals, and covering songs by artists like The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Jeff Healey etc... aswell as several blues standards, with a bit of funk thrown in for good measure, all assassinated in our own style based on a wide and eclectic range of influences.
I try to always be constantly improving and expanding my knowledge and ability on guitar, bass and double bass. I'm always keen to learn new things and become involved in different projects and bands, and I particularly enjoy the challenge of working hard to make quick progress.
I have a massive range of influences from a wide range of styles and genres and I'm driven by the enjoyment and experience I get from working with great musicians and having the opportunity to be a key component of a great sounding band, in all kinds of styles, genres and situations on both guitar or bass.

-teaching in both group and private situations
