All born around 1969, having survived wearing Lacoste poloshirts and Milletjackets, the music of Boy George and Wham (the cutest was the other guy no?) today we find ourselves facing a whole new world. We like to be present in this world, allthough we’re in the middle of a serious crash on the highway to levitation. We seem to have a mission sometimes, if we are not carefull.
We are believers! We believe in quality. We are knights on an impossible quest for beauty and quality. It really is impossible as a quest, but this poetical act of killing our own myths and dancing on the ashes of it’s ruins keeps us alive! We think it is an antidote to real bloodshed on the tv screen but happening as we speak. So we are confronted -as we all are- with this world, this new hot world and we sing about it. Oh gosh, we get carried away sometimes and then we all sing and we become minstrels. And sometimes really, honoustly we get bored on a highway in Europe and we ask ourselves why this quest? And then we stop at some gasstation and eat a snickers or an icecream and we are happy again…for a while.

Boundaries seem to blur, fade out and new cultural territories and spaces emergent. In those new spaces we rent an appartment with a view…we like to call it:
“Ensemble de Musiques de Chambres actuelles et improvisées”
yep in this french language because that’s the basic tongue we use to well…communicate…between us. And even if we could translate this for your convenience we choose not to, because sometimes we do those things you know, just because of no good reason but the pleasure of a good tease. And don’t you agree it sounds so good and important in the language of Molière and Brigitte Bardot who seems to think that for the love of dogs the best side seems to be extrrrreeeemely on the right. But we love her, yes we do. And we love you too, yes we do.
It is a band (1x5) existing for about 9 years now of which the actual line-up with five musicians came about in 2006.
It is a collective of 5 musicians (5x1), 5 individuals with very different temperaments, tastes, needs, wants…some don’t like to talk, some don’t drink alcohol a lot, we all seem to like a good piece of meat from time to time and we are taking our Belgian fries pretty seriously.
We’d like to repeat that we are taking our Belgian fries pretty serously.

More than ever, Mâäk's Spirit is full of energy, full of ideas, full of projects. After the premiere of "there is no strawberries in the winter" and their 48 DVD pack, we gonna concoct new USOS (unidentified sonor objects), with a new team (without Jeroen and Eric) but with the same .. creating the Mâäk!
