Rashad McPherson & DivinePURPOSE

“MUSIC IS MY PASSION AND MY LIVELIHOOD,” says composer and musician Rashad McPherson, who became involved with music at a very young age. In March of 2003, Rashad began “DivinePURPOSE” by combining several singers and musicians throughout the Lincoln and Omaha, NE communities. At its inception, the group went by the name “New Vision,” and changed their name upon release of their first recording project. In September of 2005, Rashad relocated to Boston, MA to attend the Berklee College of Music. DivinePURPOSE’s ministry has continued. In 2006, Rashad and DivinePURPOSE recorded their first album live at the Salem Baptist Church in Omaha, NE. The album was completed and released in 2007 and is available on iTunes, cdbaby.com and several other online retailers. To date, DivinePURPOSE has had the opportunity to minister throughout Nebraska, as well as throughout Massachusetts and neighboring states.In April of 2006, Rashad accepted in invitation to Bobby Perry & R.A.I.N., a Boston-based gospel group. Through participation with R.A.I.N., Rashad has crossed paths and shared the stage with gospel greats such as Tye Tribbett & G.A., Kierra "Kiki" Sheard, J Moss, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Kim Burrell, Men of Standard, Karen Clark-Sheard, Norman Hutchins, Bobby Jones and many more. Rashad is working alongside Bishop Perry and the other members of R.A.I.N. on their second release. Bishop Perry expects release for this project sometime during fall of 2009.Throughout his time at Berklee, Rashad served as the student director of the “Reverence” Gospel Choir. As a member of “Overjoyed,” another of Berklee’s gospel ensembles, Rashad has traveled for the past three years to Aarau, Switzerland for the Jazzaar Music Youth Workshops. In March of 2008, Overjoyed was the featured guest of the “Big Band Jazz Ensemble” of Belgrade, Serbia. At this concert, Overjoyed, along with the Big Band, performed “The Least I Can Do” from DivinePURPOSE’s debut album.Rashad is now a graduate of the Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Business. He currently serves as the Minister of Music of the Bethel AME Church of Boston. Rashad & DivinePURPOSE are also working hard on their sophomore release entitled “More Than I Ever Had.” The single, also entitled “More Than I Ever Had,” was inspired by the scripture Matthew 25:21, and was written to serve as encouragement to believers everywhere. When we show ourselves faithful over few, God blesses us with increase. Rashad & DivinePURPOSE look forward to release of the single on August 15, 2009, and subsequent release of their album Saturday, October 10, 2009.
