Born and raised in Memphis, James “Bino†Lewis is one of the most respected guitarists and studio musicians in the world of rock and R&B. James earned his nickname “Bino†(short for “Albinoâ€) because he was usually the only white musician in the various bands in which he played. For almost thirty years, James played guitar for Ike Turner, and James’ band “Home Grown Funk†recorded with Ike and Tina Turner, and opened for such legendary performers as Al Green, Isaac Hayes, Tower of Power, and the Bar-Kays.
As a studio musician, James has recorded with Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan, and dozens of other top-selling artists.
James’ band “Smokehouse†opened for Van Halen at the Pasadena Civic Center in 1977, and headlined a show at the Shrine Auditorium.
These days, James spends his time writing and recording his own music. His newest solo CD, “One Dream Away,†is considered by many to be the crowning achievement in a long and illustrious career.
James also plays LIVE every Monday night at the Camden House Restaurant, 430 Camden Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210 (Mondays, 9:00pm until midnight).
Come on out and see a GREAT show!
