About Me

Haemi Haemmerli feels at home in a wide variety of music forms from jazz to free improvisation, into which he likes to integrate elements of funk and Latin-american music. His music is convincing not only because of his impeccable technical abilities but also because of his creative flashes of wit and his courage to consistently take risks. Haemi Haemmerli (born in 1953) has worked as a freelance musician since 1978, amongst others with Franco Ambrosetti, Bennie Wallace, Mike Mossman, Bobby Watson, Charlie Mariano, Ernie Wilkins, Bennie Bailey, Walter Bishop Jr. Albert Mangelsdorff, Daniel Schnyder, Pierre Favre, Art Lande, Lauren Newton, Ed Neumeister as well as with almost every musician in the Swiss jazz scene. From 1988 to 1995 he was a tutor for double bass and ensembles at the Jazz School St.Gallen. In 1995 he became head of the jazz department of the Music Academy Lucerne. Haemi Haemmerli also is committed to the improvement of the situation of Swiss jazz musicians in social, cultural and and, in particular, educational policy issues. Haemi Haemmerli lives with his family in Rueschlikon, a village at the lake of Zurich.More at:
