Born in New Jersey, USA, Chris Soucy has been composing, performing and recording professionally since his sophomore year of high school.
Chris' interests lie in American roots music, and he has gigged, recorded and toured just about all styles — folk, blues, rock, pop, jazz, country and more.
From 1999 to 2002, Chris was a member of the Sally Taylor Band (the daughter of James Taylor and Carly Simon). Chris contributed his guitar, singing and songwriting talents to two Sally Taylor records: Apt. 6s (2000) and Shotgun (2001). Chris was a part of several of this group's headlining national tours.
From 2004 to 2007 Chris was a member of Everfine Records recording artists Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. The self-titled release by this band on Universal/Foundations Records was released in Feb. 2005. The Everfine Records release, "Glass Jaw Boxer", was released in July 2007. www.sk6ers.com
“Color Blind†marks Chris’ first cd as a band leader. Mixing roots rock with a bit of r&b, gospel, alt. country and swing, “Color Blind†is varied in styles, sounds and textures. Breaking into his well-known collection of vintage American guitars, basses and amplifiers, Chris set out to make a recording that would reflect his many influences and inspirations. “Color Blind†has been called “achingly beautiful,†and “sultry, sexy and sublime†in various reviews.
An in-demand sideman, Chris has been called for projects of all types. He has performed with the oldies group the Shangri-La's (best remembered for their 60s hit "Leader of the Pack"), recorded commercial jingles for several corporate clients, and gigged with Celtic groups, blues and country bands, folk singers, lounge acts — everything imaginable.
His theater, TV and movie credits include music in the Jim Carrey movie "Me Myself and Irene" (with Sally Taylor); a live performance on Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Network; a live performance on ESPN's "Cold Pizza"; the Denver Center Theater Company's sold-out production of Almost Heaven - Songs and Stories of John Denver; and the national tours of several Broadway musicals, including "Mamma Mia!" and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s "Starlight Express."
Throughout his career, Chris has shared the stage with and/or opened for O.A.R., Ryan Adams, The Pat McGee Band, Carbon Leaf, Guster, Matt Nathanson, Les Claypool, James Brown, Lifehouse, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Mike Doughty, The Indigo Girls, The Clarks, Dispatch, State Radio, Aimee Mann, Assembly of Dust, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Cowboy Mouth, Dan Bern, Jackie Green, The Samples, Will Hoge, DJ Scribble, Zox, Willy Porter, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Martin Sexton, Todd Snider, Eddie From Ohio, Tyler Hilton, Carly Simon, Art Garfunkel, Livingston Taylor, Los Lobos, Jefferson Starship, Elvin Bishop, Kenny Rogers, Matt Wertz, Vonda Shepard, Maria Muldaur, Junior Brown, Marshall Crenshaw, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, The Brindley Brothers, The Continental Drifters, Tommy Castro, Virginia Coalition, The Alternate Routes, Dan Hicks, Venice, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Ozomatli, Mat Kearney, Chris Smither, Ellis Paul, Gregory Page, Richard Buckner, and many others.
