Inpress Review:
YOU WILL DIE ALONE, FABULOUS DIAMONDS, THE CRAYON FIELDS, SHIPS PIANO
THE TOTE
"The underdogs on a strong all-Melbourne bill, the precocious teens of The Ships Piano dove headfirst into a set of scrappy shambling indie rock tinged with punk ire. "This is improvised," they announced before a song where the drummer and frontman switched places and the drummer screamed the bands name over and over. They closed with Lazy Sunday, featuring the standout lyric, "Get the fuck out of my treehouse/I don't want you here." When the crowed roared for more, the band answered, "We don't have anything left." They were coaxed into playing a song they'd already done, a short one about their friend Yue, who couldn't attend because he's underage. At only their second show at a proper venue, the Ships Piano charmed the pants off everyone present."

BRITISH INDIA, ARMEN FIRMAN, SHIPS PIANO
THE CORNER HOTEL
"Despite an endearing technical hiccup that forces opening band Ships Piano to false start the evenings proceedings, they recover brilliantly and use their misfortune to their advantage. Barely out of their teens, the four piece thrash, wail and holler trough their 30-minute set, full of charisma and enthusiasm. While the room may only be a quarter full, no one can deny their brash and catchy tunes, resembling a youthful-Television-cum-Aussie-suburban-Arctic Monkeys. Certainly one to watch over the coming months."

SUMMERTONES
THE ESPY
"It's tempting to think that Ships Piano's charm is all derived from their youth - and with the punky guy, the grungy flannely guy, the bowtie and makeup guy and the other guy, they've got pretty much every flavour of youthful charm sorted. But in the basement bar packed full of punters who transition instantly from "curious" to "devotee", the Melbourne four-piece prove they're all about the music, man. Songs meander from breathless squalls of guitar riff duelling to contemplative glitchy synth-scapes with a seductive stealth. Some of the lyrics might be a bit high school - "homsexual homophobe, Christian, anti-Christ" anyone? - but Ships Piano are old hands in the rock 'n' roll renaissance."
