About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

Savage Ideal is an electronic/folk/ambient/americana/post-industrial industrial project of Christian Wright, whose primary project has from 2003-2008 has been Bajskorv , an old school industrial band from Washington, DC.
Savage Ideal was initiated to transcend mainstream industrial through technical experimentation as well in depth of emotion and intelligence. Compositionally this project mixes down-tempo, ambient, and noise influences against a background of sound-collage derived from field recorded 'found sounds'. Its primary influences derive from current and historical events and personages. The cluttered, repressive minds of ghosts, lost causes, abandoned lifestyles and contemporary disgrace... Out modeled technology, that which has rotten and decayed of national fabrics, their protagonists and antagonists, their cursed and revered and their never-understood.
Savage Ideal is also a term coined in 1940 by W. J. Cash; one of the American South's bleakest writers of historical pessimism. It describes the condition of conformity whereby even the thought of political alternative has ceased to exist; stamped out by the fire of collective brutality and official prejudice. It has always existed as a tendency but has never been all powerful or inevitable.
UPDATE: July 21, 2009. I'm sitting on two albums that are essentially done, and then there's about 6-10 other tracks that need an album to be on. Live shows have happened, which is good for this project. Selling the Waldorf to finance exploration & field recording over the next 2-3 months. The struggle continues...
Visit the official site of this project for updates, songs, and visual art galleries.
MYSPACE STATEMENT
Myspace is not real life. Myspace is not live shows. Myspace and the internet give musicans an oppertunity for exposure they otherwise wouldn't have. Myspace also floods the market with bad production which depreciates the labor of serious musicians and buries their efforts in a sea of mediocrity. Most myspace bands are rarely if ever listened to by their "friends".
A band's success is judged by how many other people are talking about them, how much external press they get, how many people are going to their shows and their sites; NOT how many people an individual band member can "friend" if he or she has absolutely nothing better to do than to sit at home all day and "friend whore".
If you get a friend request from me it is only because you are a person I know in real life, or I am bored and I'm going through the lists of my other projects, Bajskorv and Societal Demise , trying to let those of you who are already my "friends" on there know about Savage Ideal.
If you leave me a comment that is just an ad for yourself, your band, or some commercial enterprise it will be immediately deleted unless you are a close friend of mine and I strongly support the project you're promoting. People who do that- who don't even read a new "friend's" profile, or listen to their music before they appropriate their website for their own ego, are no one's friend. If you're going to do this please don't req me and please deny my req.
The internet is not real life.
I try and use this as little as possible. If you're interested in promoting or booking Savage Ideal let me know. If you are a friend of mine and you're interested in how I'm doing give me a phone call because I like talking to actual human beings a lot more. If you're interested in music get off the computer. Play the guitar in the park. Go to a club and buy merch from a touring band. Buy something off itunes.
If you can't afford to tip, stay home and cook
Thank you
-CW
