About Me

Monday, January 21, 2008
Hi there,
My name is Julie Honsinger, aka "Julie Hons" via Mike Dainjah of Jen Militia and "The Flute Player" via Dan Forsey of Circadian Music. I have a tendency to play the flute in different locations. One year I was awarded the distinction of a grade 10 performing Provincial Delegate by Kiwanis, who also gave me a lot of first-place ribbons. In addition to competing I can also improvize! I played in the Kitchener Waterloo Improvisers Collective's (KWIC) Consumables II series, which you can get a taste of in the KWIC link in my Friends section below. Let me know if you would like the entire recording from the CKMS studio and I'll burn you a copy. I've played in a gazebo in Waterloo Park, in the Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) Maureen Forester Hall, in the University of Waterloo (UW) chapel, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church and churches around town in flute choirs, flute ensembles, with a string quartet, with the KW Youth Orchestra (back when it was called that) and as a standing first flute in the KW Community Orchestra.. I have received instruction from Kevin O'Donnell at WLU, Amy Hamilton at WLU, Jennifer Jowle at Waterloo Music and Wendy Wagler at Renaissance Music. One time, when Laurel Swinden was away, I was her substitute teacher. You might agree that I have quite the collection of performances under my belt. And I'm not done yet! KWIC is starting up another year and I am very happy to be attending their improv masterclasses! I'm a part-time student and part-time worker. If you want to jam let me know. You can contact me via Myspace here or via Facebook.
Thanks for visiting my Myspace page!
