That's the Shirt! was started by two brothers (George & Alan) and George's wife (Dawn). George had originally come up with the idea for That's the Shirt! just over 3 years ago after finding it difficult to come across some good pop culture clothing that reflected his interests. After getting tired of being left to the mercy of the Hot Topic/ Anchor Blue store chains and the conventions that come around once a year, he decided to come up with an idea that would make this kind of clothing more accessible for people like him. Unfortunately George and his wife did not have the money to start this little endeavor on their own. George spent the next couple of years crafting the business plan and taking steps with his wife towards making this dream a reality where ever they could. One night over dinner George told his brother (Alan) about his idea and right away Alan thought it was a business that could work. Right then Alan told George that if this was something he was serious about that he would put up some money for them to get started. With a real chance now for this to actually happen within months as opposed to years George went to work contacting Licensees to negotiate buying terms, finding store fixtures, and doing all those little things one does when opening a business (that sometimes result in you waiting in line at some government office for 3.5 hours for a tiny piece of paper). With a little bit of seed money and A LOT of blood, sweat and tears George, Alan, and Dawn opened That's the Shirt! in February 2007. You can find us exclusively at the Frank & Sons Collectible Show in Southern California and we hope to begin offering online sales by the end of March 2007.
