About Mewxico Project
It was born by the wish of seeing the band Mew live in Mexico, we are still working for that goal with several actions, but we are also looking to let the band know they are respected, heard and loved all over the world, even in Latin countries.
We also want to let more people know about Mew, acting like a street team.
This site is an open house for all frengers all over the world; it doesn't matter if you don't belong to any of the countries we've been talking about...
Join us if you had gone to one of their concerts or if you don't but you like/love the idea of going to one.
Thanks for sharing the dream!

History:
All began in Hellerup, Denmark with a school project. The Project was about the end of the world; Jonas, Bo and Johan were a team. Each one sees the world in a very different way; each one has a unique personality... But their common interest for apocalyptical art and music made them be recognized as a band long before they were able to play an instrument. One day Silas' sister told about his brother to Bo, he knew how to play drums, later, she presented him to the other three and that's how the original line up was formed. Silas is three years younger than the other members. The first name of the band was "Chien Orange".
Jonas wasn't so sure about wanting to be the person in front of the band because of his introverted personality and his vocal inexperience... He ended up in that position and with is fragile yet powerful voice he's now recognized as one of the most important singers in his country.
Officially the band started to record songs in 1995, during this year they recorded a demo that includes some songs we can find in some of their posterior albums. In 1997, during their first gig being Mew, an agent from a record company made a deal with them, this is how their first album got released with Exlibris Records. It was called "A Triumph For Man" and the original release only consisted of 2,000 albums. In their second album due to certain problems with Exlibris Records they decide to create their own record company "Evil Office" with which they release in 2000 "Half The World Is Watching Me", it also had a production of 2,000 albums. The first album was only sold in Denmark and the second in Denmark and Sweden. These albums have been re released now.
A year later, Mew decided to sign a contract with Sony BMG, consolidating them as the first Danish band to accomplish that and compromising to realize 5 albums, being "Frengers" the first one. It was a compilation of some of the best tracks of ATFM and HTWIWM, and 4 more new songs. It got into international market in 2003; this is how Mew started to be respected worldwide. They started to be specially known in Japan, country that is loved by the band. During the promotional tour of Frengers they started to work in a new album in 2004 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Due to certain problem the recording took several months to be ended and finally in September 19th, 2005 their most recent album was released "And The Glass Handed Kites". ATGHK was produced as a long song; this album had the tentative title of "Saviours Of Jazzballet" before ATGHK was chosen.
During the promotion of ATGHK, Johan, the official bass player, decides to leave the band in April 16th, 2006 because he was about to become a father. With this Mew was left with only three official members
Nowadays Mew is recording a new album; no more details have been released.
Mew since its beginnings has been recognized by some details among which we can highlight the use of projections in their gigs and their innovative music.
Projections are animations made by the vocalist, trying to express more ideas about their lyrics that tend to be abstract, Jonas has confessed that not even him knows all about them, that they just are images that appear in his mind and he writes them, as unreal as it sounds, it's true. All projections made until today have been made after creating the songs and are full of creativity, full of Mew.
About its music lots of things can be said, but the most important fall into all emotions unleashed in their listeners... Distinct shades, distinct stories fill our heads when listening melodies always filled with little details that create magic. Mew's music uses to take you to a fairy tale that not always has a happy ending, the fairy tale between your biggest dream and the darkest of your thoughts; your hope, a catastrophe and the way in between them.
Melodies are done collectively by all official members but lyrics are Jonas' exclusive task, who believes to be the most apt to write them because he sings them all. He considers is good to leave a chance so each people can find a meaning to each song, that they create their own experience when listening... These are other reasons why he always looks for the lyrics to have a wide space for the seeking of imagination, interpretation.
