R.I.P. 1999-2003
So Free Barabbas hasn't played a show in damn near 4 years. The band formed in 1999 when we were all in high school. Note, this was before white belts or girls jeans on guys existed. Such good times they were.
After a few name changes, we became Free Barabbas. We were strongly influenced early on by our punk and crust roots, with such bands as Aus-Rotten, Conflict, and Destroy shaping us into the punk motherfuckers that we were. Our style developed throughout the years from the different bands and styles we were listening to, such as Creation is Crucifixion, Circle of Dead Children, Pig Destroyer, Assuck, and Dystopia, but still we kept our own original style of crusty grind goodness which people would recognize.
Musically, our shit could be compared to Assuck and Dystopia, two major influences for us. And whenever Drew would whip out the flange pedal, motherfuckers knew it was on.
Lyrically, we sucked. We were high school kids that hated school, so we wrote about that. There's a song about how stupid christians are for eating meat, a song about killing undercover cops, a song called "When Priests Attack", and your usual songs about aliens, government, and being under the influence of Robotussin. Even after being together for about 3 or 4 years, we never put anything out. We were supposed to release a 7 inch on De La Mente records, as well as a 4-way split with Vulgar Pigeons, Drogheda, and All Is Suffering on Crucial Blast records, but none of that ever happened. What we do have is all of our material recorded which I will be posting as a separate link eventually so you can have your entire Free Barabbas fix to download.
Drew currently plays bass in Circle of Dead Children , Nick plays drums for Do Crimes , and Brooks plays bass in Tunturi .
Hit us up. Maybe we'll get our shit together.
