Manchester’s Highroller specialise in melodic, guitar driven power pop of the finest order. Their chord structures on “Back To Anywhere” are fairly basic in principal, but they have worked it into a competent and quite exciting prospect. All instruments are played exceptionally well and with plenty of flair too, which makes this demo so easy to listen to. Where it could be clichéd it neatly avoids the traps that most bands stomp into with two large feet. “Inside Out” has some of the foibles, but the vocals are well thought out and fit well with the rock out of bass, guitar and drums. “When The Lights Go Out” is a jazzier, more indie outing, but again the singing is excellent and it’s an all round, decent tune. High Roller shine more brightly than most and with just a little more thought and development their music really could develop into something far bigger than they imagined.
