About Me

"...Some birds aren't meant to be caged...their feathers are just too bright..."I was brought up in Dollis Hill/Willesden, NW10. Now I live in Queen's Park/Maida Vale.I am a writer/DJ, currently in the middle of a Creative Writing BA degree at Roehampton University.I started clubbing in 1997 after going to Tribal Gathering at Luton Hoo; an event that changed my life forever. In 1999 I bought my decks and I have been buying Vinyl ever since. My collection is something like 10 metres. I don't restrict myself to one genre because that would be a form of separation and music is supposed to bring people together. This year I embarked on a DJ course in order to learn all the new techniques on the digital side of things (MP3/Serato Scratch). This has encouraged my musical ambition and I now have my own internet radio show on Mondays, from 6pm - 8pm and on Wednesdays, from 10pm to midnight (www.juicefmonline.co.uk). The show includes the freshest Drum & Bass around and a series of year-by-year episodes on the History of DnB; tracing its progress from humble beginnings to the contemporary sound.Combining my flair for writing with my passion for music, I regularly write reviews for events, forthcoming releases, and also interview artists, DJs/ and promoters. Most recently, I was honoured to interview New York producer/DJ Quentin Harris in the East Village for his night 'Kiss My Black Ass'.Aside from the music journalism, my portfolio encompasses both fiction and non-fiction, including autobiograhical writing, travel writing, children's stories and poetry. I have also written for the screen: a 10 min short film, a 30 min adaptaion of James Joyce's 'Araby' and a completed doc for a TV series of six 30 min episodes with an outline for a returning season. In addition to the above, I am in the midst of starting a record label with DJ Virus & DJ T1. We make beats in the studio as often as we can - Developing the plans for this project will involve hosting a mid-week-night somewhere but that's all in the pipeline... There's more about me - scroll down.......
