Webaholic: A person whose life revolves around the Internet. Not a day can go by without checking favorite websites, browsing for more interesting websites, sending and receiving email, chatting with others through instant messenger or other mediums, and anything else related to being online.

Since I found no "official" definition of Webaholic, I made that up, because it describes my daily life. I was not always like that though. I used to be addicted to Bulletin Board Systems (BBS's). For those who do not know what a BBS is, think of a discussion forum or chat room. It was set up so that you would set your computer to call a certain phone number to log in and meet other people.

One day I was visiting a friend who had access to something called CompuServe. No mouse was used to navigate; it used only text commands. That really confused me so I went home and started doing what is now known as surfing. I was hooked on this whole Internet idea and wanted to learn how people put those pages up there. So I soon discovered that I could look at the page source to see how it was done.

By 1994 I was designing my own websites and even won an award for one of them from some company is known as Best of the Planet People's Choice Awards. That offered encouragement to keep going and learn more. By 1998 I decided to open my own website hosting company so that others could put their websites online too. With that, my hosting would be free and maybe, just maybe, I could make a little money from their monthly fees.

Today I can look back at my earlier designs using the Way Back Machine and am stunned at what used to be considered worthy of an award. That was not enough for me though. I wanted more... much more. I wanted to know how to make websites interactive to keep people there longer. So I started learning PHP coding because it appeared to be easier to learn than the Assembly Language I tried learning, or some of the others like fortran, perl, and I never did understand the flash coding.

Most of the websites we develop are in the real estate foreclosure industry. We have also developed sites related to auto dealerships, tikis, mattress shops, legal issues and religious discussion forums. Almost every one of those sites is also hosted by us, making the updates much more accessible.

The addition of a high-end programming team benefits our clients by offering them custom programming in many areas they would have a tough time finding elsewhere. It also leaves me more time to study and practice Internet Marketing. Many of the methods I have learned to use are listed on Affiliate Referral Sources where anyone can get free Internet Marketing Training.

Are You a Dad or a Father?

Being a dad means not only teaching your children what you know to be the best way for them to grow up, it also means setting an example for them to follow. Too many dads skip this part and then wonder why their children are not what they expected.

Also realize that there is a difference between being a dad and being a father. To many people, especially those whose mothers remarried, the step-dad becomes their dad, their mentor. The father all too often fades into the background, to be known only as the sperm donor.

The one difference I can think of is when we are referring to God our Father. He made it possible for us to be born, using humans to perform His miracle of birth. So yes, He is THE Father of all.

As a parent, I prefer to be a true dad, as my step-children call me (or pops, step-daddy, or pappa smurf), not just a father.

A note to all the fathers: Make your children proud of you and feel good about themselves, by being a real DAD.

My Interests

I am a work-a-holic and am easily bored when not being productive. If I do not learn at least one thing each day, that day is wasted. I like developing websites, learning real estate investing, avoiding large crowds, making people laugh and doing things for the shock value to see the reactions.

I'd like to meet:

Carman, Joel Comm, Perry Marshall, Rosalind Gardner, Brad Callen, Matt Callen, Shawn Casey, Jeffery Combs, Joe Vitale, Jeff Segal, Donna Atwater, Donald Trump, John Alexander, Martin Silverthorne, Paul Galloway, George Pluss, Alok Jain, Klemin Stern, Michael Oliver, Robert T. Kiyosaki, Zig Ziglar, Tom Schreiter, Vince Gill, B.J. Thomas and everyone on my friends list.

Music:

Carman ! (His music accompanies my worship time) Aerosmith, Vince Gill, Journey, Carmen, Bob Seger, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Will Smith, Clifton Davis, B.J. Thomas, Genesis, John Cougar, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Paul Kyle (Good Morning Dad), Santana, Jimi Hendrix, plus many others.Yes, some of those are older that the visitors to this site but the older music makes more sense and is easier to understand. Although I do not care for rap and a lot of it talks about violence, sex and drugs, some artists have good messages. Finding those gems is not easy, although one that has a good message for teens is Warlordz.

Movies:

Patch Adams, Independence Day, Armageddon, Purple Rain, Weeds (with Nick Nolte), plus most movies with Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Robin Williams, Nicholas Cage

Television:

Not much into TV but I like Home Improvement, Rosanne, Seinfeld and a few other comedies.

Books:

Rarely read physical books. Other than the bible, my small collection on website design and programming collects dust in the closet.

Heroes:

Jesus Christ our Lord
