How I made my profile:
I used Dave & Jay's amazing myspace profile editor .
Anders Jormin about RGG:
"When listening to this wonderful music, it becomes clear to me how RGG Trio approach their music with careful minds and with souls humbly filled with respect for the occasion. Their consciousness of sound and space marks the fact that this is a european ensemble well aware of all different parameters in music worth attention and focus. Also, Rgg trio..s belief in what music can express and achieve is, I feel, obvious to the listener. The result on this recording is a musical artefact derived from consequent choices, a music filling the room with a kind of seriousness and sacred light- an elegant statement from 3 warm and thoughtful intellects".
Thomas Gustafsson about RGG:
"To experience the music of RGG gives me is an obvious feeling why
Polish art of music has always been so much appreciated ever since
the days of Frederic Chopin"
RGG
Members of RGG graduated form the Academy of Music in Katowice in the jazz faculty. The date of foundation of RGG is 2001. When they first met on the stage, they already found out, that they should cooperate together. The recording of their first solo album called "Scandinavia" was the prize for winning the Jazz Blizzard Festival in Bielsko-Biala (in 2003).
In the same year they participated in the one of the most prestige jazz contests in Europe - The 27th International Jazz Festival in GETXO (Spain). They performed as the one of four young bands, that have been chosen from 67 applications sent from 19 European countries. Another three bands, that were taking a part in the competition arrived from Finland, Norway and Hungary. RGG participated in the Getxo Jazz Festival as the one of only two Polish bands in the over 30 years history of the festival. They succeeded in receiving the SECOND PRIZE and the AUDIENCE PRIZE.
One of the main Polish jazz musicians Jan Ptaszyn Wroblewski said about RGG (which is credited on the "Straight Story" album of RGG):
"I met RGG trio for the first time at the Bielsko Jazz Blizzard in 2003. Although they were taking a part in a competition for young bands, the level they showed was completely uncommon for young bands; it was just superb. All of a sudden there emerged three young men, each of them being not only a top-level artist but also a great individual. Their greatest virtue was that all of three musicians were continiously reffering to what their partners were doing: they were listening to each other, anticipating, picking up their partner's ideas.
The jury was debating, as far as I remember, only for three minutes as no one doubted who took the lead. After this event RGG set abroad and they brought back some decent awards...
I was waiting impatiently for their next concert in order to find out whether it had been their one-time exploit or the band had rally achieved such a high standard. I must frankly admit that since then I have met RGG many times and I have never been disappointed by them. I also believe that no one shall be disappointed by this record which is the first studio production of the band"
