G.O.C SERVES AS A PUBLIC BENEFIT ORGANIZATION. WE EXIST TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT CHILD ABUSE, AND CREATE A SAFER ENVIRONMENT FOR ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN. AS A BODY OF BIKERS, WE HELP EMPOWER CHILDREN TO BE COURAGEOUS, EVEN IN THE FACE OF THEIR ORDEALS. WE STAND READY TO LEND SUPPORT TO OUR WOUNDED LITTLE FRIENDS. OUR MISSION IS TO SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE TO ALL WHO WOULD ABUSE CHILDREN THAT WE ARE PREPARED TO PROTECT THESE CHILDREN THROUGH OUR PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT. G.O.C. DOES NOT CONDONE THE USE OF VOILENCE OR PHYSICAL FORCE IN ANY MATTER., IF WE AS A GROUP, OR AS AN INDIVIDUAL, MUST ACT TO PREVENT THE ABUSE OF ANOTHER CHILD, WE WILL DO SO. GUARDIANS OF THE CHILDREN.Violence against children only ends when a child comes forward or a concerned person recognizes the warning signs and reports the abuse.Sometimes, people may fear getting personally involved or they may be in denial of a child they know who is being hurt. Making a call to the hotline where the child is being harmed can generate help a family needs but is unable to seek. Child violence is a problem on the national and local levels that requires action in the form of caring individuals in each community.Children are our dreams and hopes. They will reflect their childhood as an adult. They are never at fault for the violence that adults inflict upon them. You can help replace the hate, hurt and fear of a child victim with love, understanding and security by taking an active role.A person’s actions, or lack of action, not only affects the abused child, but everyone in our country. Even if you just suspect abuse … Report it! Child abuse is against the law and you can report it anonymously.SOME WORDS FROM A FAMILY WE HELPED:Guardians,I just wanted to drop a note of thanks for your unwavering support of my daughter. I have a stack of your cards in front of me but I figured if I e-mail LT then no one would be left out. LT, if you could please forward this e-mail to everyone, I would greatly appreciate it. I don’t know where to begin and it’s so hard to put into words. My daugther was scared, in fact terrified. She cried and told me she didn’t want to testify. I tried to explain how important it was and she tried to be strong. She was scared the whole time leading up to the trial and I could only give her so much strength. That was until that Wednesday morning when you guys showed up at the court house. That was the first time I had seen her walk with her head up in 3 years. She was walking proud and feeling strong. She would have never had the strength to stand up to that animal and testify without your family being her power and pride. As a family you opened your hearts as well as your homes to make not only my daughter feel safe, but myself as well. You will never know, nor could I ever put into words, the impact your family has had on my family. My daugther and I truly feel like we belong to the Guardian family.Thank you soooo…. Much for the impact you have had on my family’s life and on the lives of all the children you help to protect. If there is ever anything I can do for any of you please let me know. If ever any of you are in my home town let me know, you will have a place to stay. I am forever indebted to you for the pride that you have brought back into my daughters life. Because of your family my daughter can again walk down the street without fear. She can now play freely knowing that he cannot hurt her anymore. Most of all, she can begin to heal so that she may be able to trust again. God Bless you all for what you do, if the world had a few more bikers like you guys in it, children would never have to be scared again!Once again, Cary Clack has written an insightful column that brings attention to one of our biggest problems ("Abuse is not always as open as a wound," S.A. Life, Jan. 25).As a member of the biker organization Guardians of the Children, I wanted to let Clack know there are people trying to help the children in this city. When children are referred to us, we "adopt" them into our family and help give them the strength to move forward with their lives.Unfortunately, too many children fall through the cracks. It's important that every citizen of San Antonio learn the signs of abuse and realize that we have to be the voice for these children and cannot turn a blind eye. Children are our future, and they should be protected.
