About Me

I'm a filmmaker/musician irreparably influenced by growing up under the warm glow of The Simpsons and Scrubs. My last short film - For a List of Ways Technology Has Failed to Improve Daily Life Please Press Three - aired thrice on the Sci Fi Channel as a finalist in the Exposure Film Contest. We've also presented at IFP's Cinema Lounge, and been on Twin Cities Public Television (TPT), as part of the MNTV series.I've done freelance videography work with musical acts like Minneapolis Junction, Enemy Entropist and Hazel Strange; documentary work for director Rachel Raimist at the 2005 B-Girl Be Festival in Minneapolis; produced a corporate recruiting video for a Twin Cities agency, which was aimed at specifically attracting more young employees from the "social networking" sector, and acted as a project consultant for various filmic and media endeavors. My "interests," as they say in film studies, are to affect film PRODUCTION by being well-educated in THEORY and HISTORY of cinema. Rather than just shooting what looks cool, or what sounds like a good idea, I can appreciate that learning the teachings (or thoughts, or history, or whatever) of Kracauer, Browne, Bazin, Maysles, de Antonio and Tarr can only make me a better filmmaker.Call+Response
My "career" pursuit is to become a (yargh!) Hollywood-filmmaker, which is no small thing, and is no easy thing. Of course, it's not the only thing. One of my main "moral" pursuit is to positively affect the causes of animal rights through filmmaking, which I have yet to begin as a film project. Film is a powerful, coercive, convincing medium, and I truly believe it will allow us to access throngs of people who would otherwise not see/believe/understand the sickening truth behind lab testing, vivisection, hunting, and the fur and the meat industries. My collaborator in these pursuits, and indeed, in life, is my dear, sweet wife, Shanna, (yay commitment!). She finally gave me the strength and support to go VEGAN, which is something we did together, and was a decision that greatly influenced how I look at almost everything else in life. It was the single most profound choice I've ever made. Shanna and I have been together for over 10 years now, so...yeah...I guess it's serious. After years of on-again/off-again studying and shooting, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Studies in Cinema and Media Culture.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People who will feign meaningful encounters with me only to grow up and one day do public radio testimonial stories where they reflect on our interaction and how it shaped them as a younger person. ...oh, and people who are half-human, half-animal.
