JaiMani, 21, is an aspiring singer new to the music scene but showing immense potential. Born Jessica Armani Smith, JaiMani has had a love for music early on. For her it has been an inspiration and always around when times get tough; “Whenever I feel discouraged or down, or even if I‘m in the cleaning mood, music has always been the ‘one’ I turn to, to help uplift me.â€
In her early years she sang with her school and church choir, and although she hasn’t been in the spot light much her love for music was always strong. Her overt shyness has caused her to stay in the background more, and she actually recalls her talent being exposed accidentally, “ I remember I was in 7th grade, in my school’s pool room on the bleachers with my headphones on. My friends were around me and I was listening to Aaliyah’s “ One in a Millionâ€, first humming, then unknowingly singing aloud. I think it was then that people including myself realized I could really sing.â€
Some projects that JaiMani has been apart of are “My Boo,†one of her most recent works for which she wrote the hook and sang background vocals, featuring Los Don, and Casta Troy, two artists that NiteStreet Productions is working with. She’s recorded a cover of the songs “Shake It Off,†and “ We Belong Together,†both Mariah Carey hits from “ The Emancipation of Mimi†album. JaiMani has also recorded with Brother Tom Gray, a song called “ I Just Want To Thank You†which features Danisha. She sang the hook on the most recent commercial produced by Nitestreet Productions for Rico’s Barbershop, New York Styles aired on BET in the upstate NY area. JaiMani is currently working on her debut album “Just Jai,†although there is no set due date as of yet. She says of her upcoming album, “ I just plan on putting my heart and soul into it, making good music, music u can feel and relate to. Hopefully everyone will feel me, and want more.â€
