Bazaar Cafe Open Mic

About Me

Situated in a cozy, warm cafe in the heart of San Francisco's Richmond District, this open mic draws every kind of musician. Every Thursday night, you will see people of all ages and backgrounds share their original songs in front of an appreciative, supportive crowd. You will hear seasoned performers try out new material for the first time; regulars who come every week to share familiar original tunes with their friends; new performers tentatively getting up on stage for the very first time; and everyone in between. There are no cover songs allowed. Some people are disheartened by this, having just learned that new Decemberists/Beatles/Joni Mitchell tune, but quickly they find that the environment is conducive to unending creativity. By visiting us every week, you tap into a well of inspiration that encourages you to write more - and more, and more. It's a magical place - everyone is welcome, all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. Most importantly, everybody leaves fulfilled. As a performer, one of the amazing things about this open mic is how quiet it is. Once you get up on stage, you'll notice people closing their eyes and nodding quietly, listening intently to what you're saying. As an audience member, you will enjoy an incredibly wide variety of music - most popular instruments are guitar and piano, joined with heartfelt lyrics and a peek inside the hearts of the artists who play.Musical expression is a gift to all who witness it, and for those who perform it. Thank you all for making this happen.
