Ok! Hausmania on MySpace! :)
Hausmania is a (multi) culture house and social center situated in downtown Oslo, Norway.
Several thousand square meters of building house hundreds of artists and activists. More than 30 band practice at Hausmania, there are painters, writers, dancers, techies, singers etc that regularly work in one of the 70 practice rooms available for rent.
There are also several concert, teater and dance venues, in- and outdoors.
Hausmania has Oslo's only legal graffitiwall (it's been there for many years before it became legal).
Concerts, exhibitions, movies, tecno, festivals, theater, dance, performance etc - happening regularly at Hausmania.
Hausmania's neighbours are two squats, Vestbredden and Alle Kanter. Together (the Hausquarter) we're cooperating in developing the neighborhood according to our ideals - local democracy, consensus, ecology, flat structure. self rule, independence..
All three organisations (Hausmania, Vestbredden and Alle Kanter) are currently negotiating with the county/commune about contracts. It has so far taken three years...
Also part of the Hausquarter is the independent contemporary art bookshop Torpedo and a piece of unbuilt property where a group of people (including from Hausmania) plan on erecting a circus building (new circus), 1.000.000 nok has already been granted from Norway's Cultural Council (Kulturrådet) for circusactivities on that property.
