Anathemas Blessing

Biography
In late 2006, a group of young musicians banded together to form the new progressive rock group Anathema’s Blessing. The music industry is full of groups that attempt to achieve a high degree of excellence and Anathema’s Blessing does just that but the average age of the band members is only 19 years. This band definitely creates a sound that is fresh, young and vibrant; however it is performed at a mature level that is in the tradition of bands like Dream Theatre, Symphony X and Rush.
The band members are drummer Matt O’Rourke, vocalist T.J. Morrison, bassist Neil Garnham, keyboardist Kyle Cullen and Mike Hebbes on guitar. Four of the five members are graduates of the renowned O’Neill Collegiate music program in the Durham region of Greater Toronto. Mike Hebbes went to Henry Street High School where he achieved his Arts Certificate. All the members were at a level far beyond their peers in both theory and performance. The members began getting recording and professional experience in a group called Crotalis when they recorded tracks at Juno award winning guitarist Jack DeKeyzer’s studio in Whitby, Ontario.
In mid 2007, Anathema’s Blessing started to work with drummer/composer/producer Aubrey Dayle (www.myspace.com/myidmusic or www.aubreydayle.com). His protégé Matt O’Rourke came to him with a demo that convinced Aubrey that this group played and created music at an extremely high level despite their age. He has been the bridge to professionalism that the band so deserves. He produced the group’s first demo in a professional recording environment.
The music industry is always hungry for young talent. Anathema’s Blessing is exactly what people in the industry are looking for. This band has all the energy and excitement that young groups usually give but the difference is they execute their music with virtuosic expertise.
