CGMC has traveled extensively across North America, representing Chicago in cities including Montreal, New York, Los Angeles and New Orleans. We have also brought entertainment back home, inviting choruses from across the United States and Europe to sing with us here in Chicago.
Notable milestones in our recent history include our induction into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame, multiple performances of the National Anthem at Chicago Cubs baseball games, and the production of two CDs: Cool Yule, which debuted in November 2001, and I Will Be Loved Tonight, a collection of our favorite love (and not-so-in-love) songs that was released in December 2004.
With more than 150 singing members backed by a small army of volunteers, the CGMC family covers a diverse cross-section of the Chicago metropolitan area. Under the visionary guidance and inspired direction of our paid staff, we are driven overwhelmingly by the work of our members, who log thousands of hours annually to accomplish an ambitious schedule of rehearsals, performances, fund-raisers and charitable appearances.
In addition to our annual subscription season, which features three full-scale productions at the historic Athenaeum Theatre, we also make guest appearances supporting at-risk populations like GLBT student groups and AIDS care organizations. And we are constantly exploring new opportunities to share our unique brand of entertainment and provide important community outreach, education, goodwill and a positive GLBT image that shines far beyond Chicago.
