Jean Oh

Guitarist Jean Oh was born in Seoul and began playing music at the age of 13. In 1997, he attended the Seoul Jazz Academy and began playing gigs at the same time. He has led his own jazz band. He has also performed various music like pops, funk, fusion, latin, CCM… In 2002, he moved to Paris to attend Orsay Conservatory, 9th District Conservatory and Bill Evans Academy. In Paris, he studied with Misja Fitzerald Michel, Michel Perez, Sylvain Beof, Bernard Maury, Joe Malcolm, Emil Spanyl and Frederic Favarel. And he performed in various clubs such as 'Studio des Illettes', 'Caveau des Oubliettes' and 'La Fontaine'. In 2006, he moved to New York City to attend New York University Master Program and School of Improvisasion Music (SIM). In New York, He studied with Ralph Alessi, George Garzone, John Scofield, Adam Rogers, Gil Goldstein, Richard Shemaria, David Schroeder, Steve Coleman, Mark Helias, Tyshawn Sorey, Peter Epstein, Andy Milne, Uri Caine, David Binney, Brad Shepik, Bily Hart, Dan Weiss, Tony Moreno and played (also recorded) with George Garzone, John Lockwood, Jeff Hirshfield . These days, He is playing in various places such as '169Bar', 'Swing 46', 'Milagro Theater', 'The Grind', 'Charlie's Den'... and gives lessons around New York and New Jersey area.
