Sirens and Serenades hail from Almonte, a small town outside of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada with a population of only 5,000. As such; this band knows what it’s like to be on the road to play shows. Sirens and Serenades is a post-hardcore/light metal-core outfit that has been around the scene since 2008.
The band recorded their new EP called “Our Unspoken Lies†in Ottawa, in June 2010, but the lead-off single “You Made Me†was recorded in Columbus, Ohio, USA in November 2009. The single was done with The Greenlight Firm at Pendlewood Studios and currently enjoys daily airplay on DistortionRadio.com. The EP will be available digitally online through iTunes and CD through local music/record stores and Bigcartel online. “Hitting the studio to record these songs is great, to finally have a polished version of the songs we worked so hard to make is rewarding†– Allan Branje (vocals) of Sirens and Serenades. The EP includes five original songs that is roughly twenty-five minutes in length is filled with catchy sing along choruses and brutal two-step breakdowns.
As a quintet the band’s lead clean vocals and back up screams are covered by their drummer Matthew Roberge. As the band's most qualified clean singer Matthew has owned the bands singing role since day one, as well as the bands guttural low screams. The band works on a total DIY spirit, and book their own shows and tours. The band’s live show is second to none, opening for such bands as Threat Signals, Alpha Galates, Structures and Misery Signals. They have received positive reviews from many bands they have shared the stage with including Ferret Records artist Misery Signals. “Great job tonight guys keep going and you will make it, you have what it takes†–Karl Schubach (vocals) of Misery Signals.
They came together as friends who wanted to bring back the fun to their local scene and to get kids going to shows in the area again. From that spirit the band has also done an interview and live performance on CKCU 93.1 Ottawa. Another song off the EP “Light of Day†spent two weeks on TopCHoons.com; the world’s online alternative radio. The band’s current plan is to promote their new EP strongly with new merchandise and shows. With an eye to secure a management or distribution deal in the next year and a half and move on to bigger things from there.
