The Collective

The Collective seeks to redefine the nation's capitol as one of the premier cultural centers for contemporary visual fine arts and to elevate the visual arts in the District beyond its current paradigm. The Collective was founded to support the rapidly growing and evolving visual arts community in the greater metropolitan area and to raise the national and international profile of several fascinating local artists.As an artist centric organization, we believe that the best way to showcase and celebrate the artist is to increase opportunities for collectors, as well as casual admirers, to be exposed to a diverse artist community through innovative and stimulating forums showcasing the artists unique personalities and talents. In that pursuit, the Collective will host exhibitions, auctions, artist collaboration receptions and other exciting events throughout the nation's capitol.The Collectives most significant endeavor on the horizon is our groundbreaking D.C. Fine Art Exposition (the D.C. ART EXPOSITION) at the Washington Convention Center, August 10-12, 2007. The D.C. ART EXPOSITION will be preceded by the Epiphany Series - three fine art exhibitions each showcasing different visual artists. Throughout 2006 and 2007, this three part series will captivate viewers senses and pave the way toward the D.C. ART EXPOSITION, which will redefine the fine art market by premiering artwork by over 250 local and national fine artists. The Collective seeks to encourage an appreciation for the visual arts at all levels by donating a portion of the proceeds from the EPIPHANY SERIES and the D.C. ART EXPOSITION to Life Pieces to Masterpieces a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to elevating the consciousness of African American male youth living in the Districts low-income and public housing by utilizing the visual arts to transform life challenges into life opportunities.
