"The Domani International would be setting the hipster blogs abuzz if the group hailed from NYC. Shades of Ambulance Ltd. and Doves abound, in the form of sparkling-ice keyboard grooves, Britpoppin' guitars and hooks galore." -Annie Zaleski-The Riverfront Times
The Domani International | Biography
Singer-songwriter Josh Bretts no stranger to the music industry. After playing both solo and in bands around St. Louis for the past decade, including garnering critical acclaim with his contribution to RIMs v.beta, a Ricochet Music compilation also featuring Moby and Evanescence, Brett has reemerged with The Domani International. And hes causing quite a ripple across the Midwest and beyond.
The debut EP, This Is_The Domani International, recorded at Flickerlight Recording Company and produced by Kevin Clay and Steven Wilson, grabs the listener from the moment it begins to spin. Theres an ethereal, almost Brit-pop sound to Into Forever. The key-and-drum interludes lift the listener to the heavens with just the right dash of guitar to return feet to ground. Such Sweet Sorrow is poised to slip readily onto college or indie radio. Despite its title, the songs an uplifting m..lange of guitar, keyboards, and Brett's ascendant vocals. The balladry of Our Colliding Age and, especially, its gently soaring refrain is instantly captivating. Just Keep Breathing is another gem, striking just the right balance between rock and pop. Finally, Out of a Vulgar Machine pays homage to 80s synthpop while sounding fresh and of-the-moment.
With critical acclaim and comparisons ranging from the Twilight Singers to Remy Zero to Jeff Buckley, Josh Brett and the Domani International have quickly made a name for themselves on the St. Louis scene.
In addition to his catchy-yet-intelligent songwriting skills, Brett has been hailed for his soaring vocal ability and unique style of guitar playing.
With 'This is_ ...', The Domani International have created an indie rock symphony, putting a new spin on a familiar sound.
