About myself
Born in Cebu, Philippines, I started learning classical music at the age of seven. The only instrument I played on was the piano. The only music recording I listened to over and over again was Martha Argerich's Haydn Piano Concerto in D, Hob. XVIII11. These have influenced me tremendously in my music development as these were the only 'western' form of art available in my home.
I had my first solo piano recital at the age of eight followed by another first orchestral debut at the age of nine playing the Haydn Piano Concerto in D, Hob. XVIII11. These 'first' performances have lead me to becoming a classical musician.
The only way I can express my deepest thoughts on art is through the music I can perform.
I have deep sentiments towards Philippine folk music. I aim to perform and record the piano works of the composers Ryan Cayabyab, Augusto Espino and Nicanor Abelardo. My favorite is the 'Pahilaga' for two pianos composed by Ryan Cayabyab. It constitutes of three beloved folk songs of the Philippines - Salidomay, Pamulinawen and Naylinac Lay Labi.
