About Me

Alasdair Gray wrote "work as if you lived in the early days of a better nation". to this end i aspire with each breath of each day and i advise you to do the same. at the risk of sounding corny or perhaps cliche (although i've probably already managed to accomplish that simple feat), do what you do for the sake of an end larger than yourself regardless of the mundane insanity that surrounds you. work for money is essential to one's survival, but passion must exist in my life in order for me to continue living it. i said i wouldn't sell you anything so i'll stop writing while my foot's only in my mouth and has yet to reach my esophagus...if you want to know a little about me, i was born and raised a fat white kid in Oakland who attended an arts magnet school until my parents decided to move the fam up to the suburbs outside of Sacramento, partially for the better schools. i learned much from the drastic change of scenery. city became field and park, standards went from low to high and i shifted from the minority to the majority.i mention these things because of the shift they engendered in my mindset. i had to wonder why i wasn't cool when i'd been different. i began to speculate about class consciousness and the myth of upward mobility within the social stratification. i started to think about the differences between places in California which could be as close as thirty miles apart yet, in character, seem worlds away. so, i started reading while listening to music.these two combined activities helped me to try to sort some things out in regards to the town, state, country and world i live in. a desire to question rather than to answer was the real primer or impetus for me to become a fledgling writer, and, later, an infant producer. i do the things i do because i can't stop asking questions about myself, the world and the place i hold in it.with the help of many friends along the way i've enjoyed creation for creation's sake. i hope to continue to do so. if you actually took the time to read all this, thanks to my broters pat and sean, my parents judy and john, my girlfriend nikole, and my friends Kingsuh: chris (crass, carnivorous, chivalrous) mcgoo, ty (teewhy?, mista kull), key tone, russ (control) and ryno. thanks to heidi, ej and matt daily.
