Dos Gitanos formed in 2004 after keyboardist David Barclay decided to buy a squeeze box. Mr. Barclay has performed ..boards in a few bands in the Albuquerque scene such as Rex Mun, Captain Standish, Masque, Tactical Cactus, Asteroid Kids and many a off the cuff blues ensemble. "I decided to take up the squeeze box because I was envious of the acoustic guitarists and harmonica players around a campfire as well as the horn players at a gig. I had to lug a big keyboard and was a slave to electricity." Well Mr Barclay got good enough at the squeeze box be a main player in Felix Y Los Gatos as well as the all satr wedding band Los Coyotes. "I started to get more and more gigs!" He teamed up with Felix Peralta of Felix y los Gatos and crafted some simple folk songs. Mexican Polkas and Cumbias as well as ZydecoSwing and CajunBlues. "I have a romantic notion of the early 20th century in the American Southwest with rural fandangos and dusty cantinas and a simple button accordionist teamed up with a guitar or even just a drum or rubboard. I bet many accordionists played by ear and crafted their own style of song now lost forever." New Mexico is such a beautiful region. There is so much rustic beauty and rich culture stemming back over thousands of years. The oldest house in America is in New Mexico as well as the oldest church.
