Dettol is a band that played around Wollongong, Australia, during the '90's. It consisted of Michael Lawler on guitar; Kane Goodwin on drums; Matt Houston on bass; and Sergio Giason on samples. The band started in 1994, and was distinctive in the local scene due to its lack of a singer, or singing in general. Being in a hurry to score a few gigs, the boys employed samples saved on their trusty laptop as a stop-gap measure until a singer was found. The samples came from music, movies, songs, friends, family - anything really. And that is the way it stayed. It was not until just before the band's demise in 1997 did the boys begin to open their mouths a bit (possibly the catalyst for the end). Dettol scored many a great supporting slot, and enjoyed rocking the Eastern seaboard. They had 2 official releases: "Scissor Fear" (EP) & "Antennae" (EP). They also gave away a demo recording called "7-11 Stuntmen". Another 4 songs were recorded in 1997, destined to be the lads 3rd EP, but these songs did not see the light of day. Due to a lack of money, and loss of the master tapes, "Optimus Prime" remained unfinished and unheard. A rough cut of these songs was found on a cassette and cleaned up as much as possible.
