Turntable Myspace Layouts in Music Myspace Layouts

The band name is the same as my dj name, which just kind of represents where my influence in music comes from, it's kinda allsorts of stuff played on turntables creating miles of music hours, (the latter music hours being played through Stanton cartridges on my turntable).
Started learning to mix in 1987 after seeing Stesh and Dave at Tiffany's in Newcastle 83-86, (I can almost 100% say that my entire enthusiasm for creating a smart sounding mix is because of those 2 people, ). Joined a band called New Avengers in 88, created a few tracks in a basic studio, (Geordie Rap / Hip - Hop).
I then moved on to a band called Mnemonics in 1994 creating a more trip hop sound, (still finding my feet really). During this transitional period i played on numerous restricted licence radio broadcasts, (WEB FM, The Buddle Broadcast, Gateshead RSL), providing 3 shows a week playing a range of genres.
I then joined a Rock / Indie band called Garret providing cuts and samples / sound effects to live performances all over the North East, we also recorded quite a bit and had an E.p. on sale called 'Dummy Run', which was fairly successful and well received. In 2003 our songwriter moved, (check out 'Jim Musgrave' / 'Land Equivalents' pages), so I decided to make my own way after buying new equipment enabling me to be more versatile in my production style.
I still keep my hand in playin scratch/cut & paste sets at the likes of Popolo's, Secco, The Casino Club, Head of Steam, The Red Rooms, The Other Rooms & anythin else that's lucrative in Newcastle.

I Have extensive experience with workshops including the organisation and delivery of turntablist workshops for the BBC, youth work for County/City Councils (such as North Tyneside, Newcastle City and Northumberland) & demonstrations provided for youth organisations (such as Re-generate).
Check out my video's to see a vid of a scratch demo I made in 2004, it's lasted fairly well.

Influences: In no particular order............Ultramagnetic MC's & Kool Keith's guises, The Bomb Squad, Lalo Chifrin, Charlie Parker, Led Zeppelin, Garret, Dj Cam, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Billy Cobham & The Mahavishnu Orchestra & Asere, Q-Bert & The Piklz, ***Stesh & Dave @ Tiffany's Newcastle 83-86***----(as said above,,,HUGE), K.R.S.1 & Scott La Rock, Massive Attack, Pete Rock & C.L., Declaime, Edan, Showbiz & Ag, London Posse, Hardnoise, MOS DEF, Daft Punk, Shades Of Rythm, De La, P.E., Mantronix, Herbie Hancock, Clinton-Bootsy & The Guys, Jimmy Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Mancini, Frank Sinatra, Portishead, The Procussions, DJ Shadow, DJ Peshay, DJ Crystal, David Holmes, my dad's bedroom guitar..... (mostly the 2112 lp by Rush and all of Pink Floyd's stuff, were imprinted from an early age!)............to name all of my influences would be really daft..........anyway, we ain't got time believe you me....let's not leave the arts out either eh! You can definately whack in a whole bunch of graffitti like TTK / Mane One's stuff, old Vulcan stuff, The Chrome Angelz, & some nice proper breakdancing like Fireworks, New York City Breakers, The Electro Breakers Newcastle (thanks for that amazing wednesday with the New York City Breakers Jan) etc...!
Grandmaster Ip Man, Master Ip Chun & Master Samuel Kwok, Sifu Trevor Jefferson, Sifu Paul Tennet & last but not at all least Sifu Paul Dodds.

Sounds Like: Mostly Hip-Hop & Funk influenced, although I tend to choose more aggressive beats / patterns even when on jazz slants . The turntablist elements are quite intricate but I wouldn't say i'm any Q-Bert. The music spans quite a few genres but seems to always evolve around the rhythm and with the use of live guitars / bass on some tracks it adds an extra 'live' sounding layer, making the sound not so 'regimental' as can happen with some sequenced music. I'm in the process of finding more musicians to work on the tracks live, i.e. MC's, Vocalists, Guitarists etc to add those additional layers.

Record Label: Fly Folk Music (not tied) / Unsigned

Does anybody strongly agree with the fact that 'Her' by the above mentioned band has undoubtedly one of the sweetest Rhodes sections on any record on Earth, (and probably is played upon entry thr...
