About Me
Just a simple guy, from a simple town, in a simple world. Trying here to share some of the work I've done in the past few years. Either with bands, musical groups, movie soundtracks or even theater plays. From Heavy-Metal to Ambient/Downtempo music through an immense diversity of electronic sounds and textures. Since 1990 I began singing heavy-metal in a local project called "WC Noise". We recorded two albums, the last of which was in 1994, touring northern Europe in April 95. Later, after the band split because of the usual 'lack of time together' reason I started to think over the possibility of having my own project depending on my own time. At the end of 1999 I connected myself to another thinking brain, a great friend called Rui Pedro and started what would be my first electronic musical project, adopting the name "System ID". The 'learning' was becoming serious, and the will to know more about synthesis, samplers, sequencers, sound engineering, plugins, computers, audio, midi, etc... took control over my brain (like usually happens with this kind of stuff, lol). For some reason that only daily life can explain, the project had come to it's end after 2 years of existence! After that, I started to work with another great friend on a Psychedelic Trance oriented project. Me and DJ Fluxö (a.k.a. Pedro Matias) gave birth to "Zero Sequence". Always wanting to get deeper into computers, electronics and related matters, and also after spending all the money I had on gear (and still working to pay for more, lol) a theater company called "Teatro de Ferro" were going to produce a Science Fiction play and asked me to do the soundtrack. There, I began to see things more widely, enjoying working with ambients, concrete sounds, all mixed up with those 'science fiction clichets' like spaceships, lasers, engines, computers, etc... It ended up to be the beginning of a 'different goal' to achieve with my music. Arranging the ambience of the play, composing things based on movement, based on an existing story, illustrating the characters, the actions, etc... Meanwhile, as the Trance project was going on, I joined back up with the guitar player of my early heavy-metal band (Rodolfo Cardoso). Together we chose a friend called Carla Oliveira, (...well, we already knew she could sing, lol) and brought to light the electro/pop project with the name of "3angle". After some home recordings, we got our music broadcasted on radio and recorded a track on a compilation known by the name of "Pop Up Songs". While trance was moving forward, I was still composing soundtracks for theater and movies and at the same time, beginning this 'electro/pop' project, ...but a new horizon came up with the opportunity of developing a complete new experience through the vast path of ambient/downtempo music. It started with me and my trance partner (DJ Fluxö), just playing around with music, which lead us purposely to start producing "chill-out"... We called the project "Chilled C'Quence". And again, new feelings about music invaded my life. We started to play live, and had the opportunity of releasing an album on the UK label "Amboworld" in April 2006! With that we managed to play in two of the most well known summer festivals that promote this kind of music. "Boom2006" in Portugal (for the second time) and "Sonica2006" in Italy. Right now I follow the same light as before, with the big difference of working with a lot of different people on very 'distinct areas' and living my life having the privilege of doing what I like, Music. But still having a lot to learn. I thank all those people that I work with, 'cause they are my true engine! And of course to my son Luca, who gives me the biggest motive to do what I do!!!
